Hi all! This week we talked to some of the group involved with the Te Tuhi show "Share/Cheat/Unite," including Bruce E. Phillips, Mark Harvey, and Darcell Apelu. Later in the show our roving reporter Tom interviewed Christchurch-based artist Ana Iti, discussing her work at North Projects ("Is the past a foreign country?") and CoCA ("Contemporary Christchurch"). Plus art news and our top three (artist) dinner party guests!

Hi all, big show this week. We had Paloma Ozier in studio, talking about her latest piece of writing, entitled "Arts, Excess and Excrement: Revaluing Thought as Waste." She talked about different understandings of the functions of universities, academy and thought. Theo interviewed Louisa Afoa about "Off Stage 7", the Tautai show on now at Artspace. We also played a track by Puce Mary, the Berlin-based noise artist who played at Audio Foundation last night. Also, the latest painting gossip, the fresh shows opening this week, and a couple of good tunes.

Tena koutou, hope you are well. This week Tom interviewed Hannah Watkinson who runs In Situ, New Zealand's only public art space dedicated to photography. She talks about how and why she set up the space, and some of her favourite work shown at In Situ so far. We also talked to Tariq Habibyar, an academic from Christchurch, talking about his memories and understanding of art in Afghanistan, and life in general in that country. Also, we kicked off the show with a blast of Slayer's 'Raining Blood', a nod to Cushla Donaldson's protest work 'Contamination', which uses this heavy metal song to address the toxicity of the Tamaki Estuary. And the latest art opening guide thrown in there too!

Bella read two pieces from her latest book and talked about her art and writing practice, motherhood and life in general. Dan chatted about his one-night show called “it’s a shame really”, which was part of the latest first Thursdays, as well as the history, future and mythology that shapes Karangahape Road.

Hi, here is the podcast for the 24th of July. First of all there was a little obituary to Alan Vega, a musician and artist. Then, Theo reviewed Laurie Anderson’s “Heart of a Dog” which screened at the NZ International Film Festival. Jaimee talked to Bronte Perry and Sorawit Songsataya about their show “a bone, a flesh, a daddy’s nest”, at RM gallery. Then Cushla did a live chat with Theo about all things Zinefest. Yeow!

Kia ora Artbankers, corker of a show last week. Magdalena Holt and Emmanuel Sarmiento were in the studio to talk about their show "the heart is deceitful above all things" which is on site at Window Gallery. As always, that gallery has an online exhibition on at the same time, and Theo talked to Casey Carsel about her show "cry, without words". Tom talked to Walters Prize nominee Nathan Pohio about his work "Raise the anchor, unfurl the sails, set course to the centre of an ever setting sun!". We also discuss the era in which art, architecture, writing and design were a part of the summer olympics.

This week Auckland artist Hannah Berry talked to Theo about her Projectspace show called Shadow Volume. Then the zine maker and My Chemical Romance aficionado Ash Spittal came into studio to chat about his latest work. Plus all the latest art openings and news! Yay.

Sam Hamilton drops in this week to talk about his new film "Apple Pie," currently playing around the country as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival. We hear some excerpts from the film, and learn about the process behind it. We also have a conversation with Anna Sisson about her contributions (alongside Alexis Hunter and Teuane Tibbo) to the Michael Lett exhibition "Remnants of the Banished."

This week we talk America and the beyond tragic US police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile and the #blacklivesmatter movement. We also talk to Theo whom recently arrived back from a trip to California, about his observations on US Art and Politics and play 2 pieces from out Audio Foundation/Radia collaboration "Big Ben Tape Improvisation #1" by Daniel Beban and "One Stoch 4 at 950m" by A Patch Of Nettles... Kia ora! Today we have The wonderful Sabelo Mlangeni in conversation with Artspace's curatorial intern John Mutambu. Mlangeni, an artist from South Africa, discusses his practice and solo exhibition entitled "Heartbreaker" currently on at Artspace. Mlangeni also plays some incredible tunes from South Africa. John Mutambu also discusses the exhibition of Pip Culbert's work "Seams" also on at Artspace. Then we have artist Alexa Wilson talking to Cushla about her practice from Berlin and her upcoming work chosen to be in Manifesta 11 in Zurich. Boom!
