We know the man and the legend so I tried to go for some deeper cuts on this one. I've also selected a number of songs from "First Rays of the New Rising Sun". That album, released by the Experience Hendrix project, is one of the more ethical posthumous Hendrix recordings with original Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer using original masters with the permission of the Hendrix estate.

This one focuses on the work of Cab Calloway. Calloway was one of the most prolific and successful big band leaders of all time. He had multiple appearances in film and was the first African American artist to sell a million copies of a song with the success of his 1931 track "Minnie the Moocher".

Last up in the run of new shows is Artist Spotlight on Radio Gordo. Last week we were going through the dusty legend of Hank Williams and this week we explore the living body of work of one of my favourite piano players (though she's so much more than that), Tori Amos. Amos is an absolute monster talent when it comes to creating unique and passionate music and her voice is simply amazing. It was hard choosing only an hour of music but we still get to explore work from 1992 to 2017 in this show.

Williams penned one of the most iconic songbooks of Americana still massively popular today. His hard living ways and alcoholism created a mythical archetype some doomed souls still try and emulate. It's amazing to think of the songs he gave us before his death at the age of 29. We're going to get into some of my favourites tonight.
