back to haunt you
and you know that
you don’t want to
embrace it’s painful memories
with tomorrows filled
with sorrows
and all that you have left to borrow
is your present day
that stretches onward endlessly.
Close your eyes
let your soul drift
beyond the past and future rifts
find some happier point in time
to help your spirit lift
fate can be a fickle beast
gifting more when you have least
around the corner waits a feast
of newfound love and peace.
I had a friend who chose
to end his life
when his wife took his kids away
so he drank himself to death
thinking he’d make her pay.
but his kids grew up without him
I think of all the things he missed
Birthday’s Christmases, first proms
and graduation days.
while he rotted in a grave…….
So close your eyes
let your soul drift
beyond the past and future rifts
find some happier point in time
to help your spirit lift
fate can be a fickle beast
gifting you more when you have least

just how easy it would be
not to live without you......
your love has taken me

She suddenly appeared in
the void of my life
like an asteroid
with a heated collision
in the depths of my heart
where love had been destroyed
she set a bonfire burning
in my soul that was yearning
for another chance
bringing me joy with love’s
sweet happenstance,
It started off with some drinks
then she gave me a wink
and a pretty smile,
so I sat down next to her
and even now I must concur
her eyes they drove me wild.
We talked about lots of things
and shared our hopes and dreams
almost the whole night long
then we shared a dance or two
that promised romance coming true
as the band played our favorite songs
then she gave me her number
on the bar’s last call
but for her and I it wasn’t
our last call at all…….
We spent a wonderful summer
right up into the fall
and man, we had it all
we had it all.
But she went off to college
chasing her last year of knowledge
and I was left behind…..
then her family moved away
and she was gone to stay
except within my mind
only ten weeks or so
of love I couldn’t let go
back in another time
just a taste of love’s
incredible wine
Leaving me memories
I keep enshrined
for all my loneliest days
on life’s dateline..
sweeest memories
that ease my lonely mind
