Freedumb or Freedom!!
Man is born free,
and yet everywhere he is in chains
linked to the racism of his father's fathers,
handed down like holey white sheets,
bloodstained and hooded on one end.
He is locked onto the prejudice
that he was born into,
only the intelligent and caring
can break the bonds.
Born free and yet
women are still slaves,
submissive under religous rules,
bond to obey, or face certain death,
they cower beneath viels,
remaining distant from thier dreams.
While others sell their souls for drugs,
and give their bodies freely,
hope drains from them at fifty bucks a pop,
chained to the needle, spoon, and crack,
that promises freedom but holds them hostage,
until they are but skeletons wrapped in flesh
bound to an addiction that knows no mercy.
Born free and yet shackled to starvation,
most babies will not see their adult years,
in third world counties,
WHO??? assigned that number,
are first world countries
better then these places,
just infants who in poverty are suffering,
they waste away, trapped in their bloated bodies,
that scream for food but end up eating dirt,
one shovelful at a time until they're left,
in shallow unmarked graves
that mark their passings.
"We wear the chains we forge in life,"
as Charles Dickens wrote,
But I believe no chain is
strong enough to hold a soul,
who puts up strong resistance,
to the wieght holding them down,
eventually they can break free,
except for tiny babies,
it's up to us to free the
innocent from evil's chains,
unlocking our potentials
to do good among the masses,
by severing the chains
that keep societies oppressed,
then link arms as one people,
in a loving, peaceful world
