This is the second and final part of the settlement AS level podcasts and concentrates mostly on the urban settlement issues. The case studies that my classes study here are Belfast and Nairobi to compare and contrast the key aspects of urban settlement.
This is the first of the second topics in AS Geography and looks at Settlement. The main focus is on rural issues and the definition of the urban-rural fringe that surrounds a city. By the way this is one of my new trial enhance podcasts!
This is the final of the AS podcasts in population and this one deals with the sensitive issues of the balance between population and resources in an area. This podcast is a little out of date and needs a bit of a refresh in the very near future as I have changed the way I teach this unit since I made the podcast but it will give you a useful introduction to some of the key ideas!
In this section we really do start to get to grips with some of the key issues in relation to the study of population with a look at some of the key aspects of demographic transition. What causes the change within a population? How can we learn to use population pyramids? How can the age and sex structure of a population pyramid change?
In this podcast we are going to be taking a look at the introduction to population. This section looks mostly at Population Data - the census and vital registration.
