Fly fishing, mountain life, and making punk history...just a few highlights found on this first of 2 chapters of chapter twelve. The Godfather (yup, we said it) of Christian hardcore, Allan Aguirre (aka Ramald Domkus) shares some exclusive history on the origins of Scaterd Few, Cygnet, which later became Spy Glass Blue, and the highs and lows of starting a grassroots street ministry in the meanest streets of Los Angeles, CA in the 1980s amongst gang violence. His legacy with Scaterd Few literally inspired countless bands who would be a massive influence, along with Allan, in the 1990s. Featured here on this first half, we hear about Allan's first pre- Scaterd Few punk band in 1981 that ministered to many in Guatamala. We also get to hear about played in a band with Don Bolles from The Germs and 45 Grave before Scaterd Few, and meeting the legendary Terry Taylor in the early 80s, Allan's relationship with HR and Bad Brains, and what would become the Scaterd Few we know and love in the late 80s and early 90s. This episode is an almost overwhelming wealth of story telling for the hard core Scaterd Few fans out there both young and old.

Bob Nanna tells us about the space between the end of Braid and the beginning of Hey Mercedes and how it went down in Hawaii. Hear about how Hey Mercedes met their tour manager Chris on the Vagrant tour. Bob Nanna was nice enough to open up about a cancer scare, yet how he somehow found the peace to not let it be a scare...plus he got a hat out of it so that's cool. Cancer sucks. We are all getting older every day and there comes a time where we have to make smarter decisions about our health. Drink more water, folks. He reminds us that when you go see a band they didn't just come from their tour bus fully rested...sometimes they didn't even sleep the night before. Remember that.

Michael Gilligan, or "Gil", has been running his own record label since 1996. Fake Chapter Records has released split CASSETTES, survived a forced name change, napster, music thievery, industry changes...and he is still going. We had some recording issues with this one so we apologize for the slight hint of wonky with the recording...BUT we took Gil's advice: He attributes "being too stupid to give up" as his secret to success. Gil has worked in the industry at Gig Records, Matador Records...SONY records...pretty impressive resume. Gil processed the Sony deal that put the Hum song "Stars" into a Chevrolet commercial. As if this dude isn't busy enough, he then writes a book! Gil has been stashing everything that he found entertaining about the music industry since 1996 and collecting his ideas to finally write about it. His book "Sex, Drugs and Cubicles: What I've Learned From The Music Industry" is available everywhere. It's a light, entertaining read and we are going to give you a copy as a thanks for listening gift. One of the busiest human beings we know...Dan Frome afforded us a little time to talk. Get this...when we called him a while back to record, he said "I'll have to get back to you, the band I'm running sound for is about to do Letterman." Yeah. This is the same guy who recorded the Unteachers 7" and some tracks on "A Human Comedy". He now plays bass for Roomrunner and just recorded with J Robbins. (J keeps coming up...anybody know him? We should talk to him.) Dan started running sound for Future Islands about 1 & 1/2 years ago. This new gig has dragged him around the world, Coachella (funny Jared Leto story), David Letterman, just insane. Hear the stories of his super secret recording studio in Baltimore, the legend of that space which has degrees touching Shudder To Think, Ted Nicely, TV On The Radio and other early Dischord folks. Hear how Dan FOUND lost recording reels from bands such as Rodan, The Jesus Lizard and more. His path to today has been bananas.

One of the more successful Solid State bands, Becoming The Archetype hits close to home. They've always been our brothers from Georgia. Trav's guitarist Alex from Aletheian joined BTA for an album. BTA slept in our home a number of times, recorded in the first incantation of Trav's studio, made a Solamors album with Jason and Alex. (Haha...just the site of Jason Wisdom sleeping in my kid's room...hilarious.) Anyways...Seth Hecox has been one of our friends for over a decade. Follow his story as we learn about his secret love for folk/electronic music...so much so he's experimenting with blending the two. This guy played with Five Iron Frenzy and opened for Reel Big Fish! He loves baseball...I mean LOVES baseball. The Hecoxes (what's the plural on that?) are expecting another baby. We learn about some of the interesting facets of working in a Lutheran church. Seth has some Becoming The Archetype news...you gotta listen.

"Tyrant Taylor" Galassi and "Saddle Sarah" Shown join the story to tell us how their band This Way To The Egress is a shining example of what a D.I.Y. band is capable of. They are coming hot off the heels of a successful kickstarter campaign for their new album "The Great Balancing Act" which they recorded in Brooklyn with legendary producer Roger Greenawalt. Now they're getting ready to leave for a independently scheduled month long tour. These Egress kids are BUSY...this is their art and it is DANGEROUS! There is a lot of solid advice about independent publishing and licensing in here too.
