As we lay sleeping

Listen Later

As we lay sleeping

Babies stolen from their parents sight, sometimes in the

middle of the night

At dinner I hear news on the TV , it makes me feel uneasy as

I go to sleep tonight

You work your job, live your life, love your kids and you

kiss your wife; all while someone’s creeping

There’s terror afoot in every city, news anchors says it’s a

pity, happens every night as we lay sleeping

Cities are leveled somewhere far away; in the ruins the people

are shaking their fists saying you’ll pay

When revenge is exacted, they say they over-reacted, and the

whole thing’s repeated on another day

A fight for land, or maybe over oil; the very thought of the

enemy makes his blood boil

In tunnels or by air, bombs causing destruction everywhere, innocent

blood stains the soil

When you wade through the tears, look into the eyes at the

fears what gains are you reaping?

Which one of us is next, experts seem to be perplexed, arguing

our fate as we lay sleeping

Then a virus or unknown disease, grab ahold of us and puts

the entire world on its knees

While doctors in the labs, work furiously to keep us off

slabs, there’s some who just do as they please

Ignoring commands, politicizing every chance; a cacophony of

nonsensical rants like a horn stuck beeping

Making great what he tried to burn? You’d think people would

learn, things we dream of as we lay sleeping
