Lynne McDonald is an abstract artist who felt the calling to paint later in life. Against all stereotypes of a single mom in the Atlanta suburbs entering her fifties and without training, she reinvented herself into a full-time artist inspiring her audience all to realize, that it’s never too late. Her work can be described as organic, colorful, and moving.

Harnessing acrylic paints, brushes, blow torches, and whatever tools are within reach, Lynne crafts her pieces, infusing them with an organic quality. She pulls from her love of water and nature, which can be identified in her evolution, yet she gets great joy in the fact everyone sees something different. Lynne has developed a following and has sold over 400 paintings to date, including pieces all over the world. As a juried artist, she’s had over 15 shows in her short career - 13 of which have been solo. Her work inspires audiences to embrace life on their terms and persist in pursuing their dreams.

Rita began her career as a middle school teacher and her gifts have led her to being a successful entrepreneur for over 35 years – first as a partner in a fashion boutique, then the founder and CEO of Mirror Enterprise INC. (MEI) a professional and personal development training company. MEI offered training in areas of Leadership, Diversity, Customer Service and Team building. MEI provided Soft Skills training to approximately 3,000 individuals moving from Welfare to Work in Richmond City and surrounding Counties.

In 2011, Rita completed the RUAH School of Spiritual Direction where she was trained in the ministry of Spiritual Direction in the context of Contemporary Urban Christian Spirituality. Several of the assignments required her to Be silent for 24 hours where she learned how to Listen in the Silence and it has ultimately changed the trajectory of her life. Listening allows persons to identify their passion, embrace their gifts and follow their purpose. As a Spiritual Coach, Rita coaches her clients to move from Confusion to Clarity…from a life of feeling stressed out, frustrated and stuck to one of total joy and fulfillment. Her purpose is to show her clients how to remove the barriers preventing them from creating the life they were born to live and enjoy a more fulfilled life of Purpose, Peace and Passion. She offers Laser(one on one) Coaching and Group Coaching.

Rita facilitates new Virginia: Scaling4Growth offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia to small business owners. It is a six month program designed to be a practical, case based, peer learning focused program. Focus areas are Business and Leadership(Strategic Assessment), Financial Management(balancing cash flow), Marketing and Sales(Building Profitable Sales) and Resource Management(Getting what you need to scale). This course allows Rita, as a Spiritual Business Coach, to coach the business owner in recognizing the benefits of slowing down to assess where she/he is personally and professionally. She coaches them to write their vision, mission and values statements and release some of their every day duties in order to focus on scaling their Company. She earned her B.S. in Sociology from Virginia State University and her M.Ed. in Adult Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She received executive management certificates from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Rita lives in Richmond, Va., loves swing dancing, smooth jazz, and grooming her two granddaughters to be all they can be. She is proud to call Dr. Lance D. Watson her Pastor and Saint Paul’s Baptist Church her Church home. She is a breast cancer survivor since 1999.

Her personal mantra is “What You Do Today, Forms Your Tomorrow” She is in Act 3 of her journey and LOVING LIFE!

It’s stunning to realize that only 10 states make birth records available to American-born adoptees and their biological parents—Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon and Rhode Island. For adult adoptees born in the 20th century era of closed adoptions, this presents a painful obstacle to discovering their origins and ending the agonizing hunger to know their own identity.

Janet Sherlund poignantly captures this journey in her elegant and heart-wrenching memoir, ABANDONED AT BIRTH: Searching for the Arms That Once Held Me (Forefront Books; May 7, 2024). Sherlund paints a vivid portrait of the detachment and longing of an adopted child and the lifelong quest to find her biological mother. It’s an unflinching examination of the grief and trauma caused by this primal separation and the dogged determination it takes to face the forces of opposition—both internal and external—to finally achieve answers.

ABANDONED AT BIRTH illuminates the darker side of adoption, and what it takes to heal. “I hope it starts conversations about the rights of those given away, loss and grief in adoption, the biology of belonging and identity, and why love is not always enough to extinguish the pain,” Sherlund says.

Like many adoptees of her generation, Sherlund was the offspring of teenaged parents. Her mother was forced to have her baby in secrecy. Sherlund would come to learn that her mother was unusual for her time. Not only did she not tell the father she was pregnant, she wanted nothing to do with her baby and never even looked at her newborn.

All Sherlund had to go on when she began her search was a false narrative written about her biological parents by the adoption agency. The twists and turns, setbacks and disappointments, and surprising familial connections finally achieved makes ABANDONED AT BIRTH a page turner of a memoir.

JANET SHERLUND served on nonprofit boards in education, health and the cultural arts before writing her memoir, Abandoned at Birth. Her single most significant life event was being given up for adoption at birth. Being adopted made her feel as though she was living a “borrowed life,” undermined her sense of trust and personal value, and impacted every decision she made. It also led to a lifelong quest to find her biological mother, with the hope of finally feeling a tether to this world, a sense of belonging and ultimately, herself. Her memoir fulfills a lifelong dream to raise awareness about loss and grief in adoption, and why it takes more than love to survive that trauma. A graduate of Colgate University, Sherlund lives on the island of Nantucket.

A fresh harvest share every week starting mid-May 2024 to Late-September 2024 (20 weeks) , consisting of assorted cooking and salad greens, a large variety of vegetables, culinary and medicinal herbs, local seasonal fruit, sprouts and more. We specialize in old-fashioned heirloom varieties full of flavor and color.

Starting *Late May you can expect boxes to have a seasonal variety of produce in the following "families"however the beginning of the season will have mostly greens, as the season heats more variety can be expected:

Leafy Green-spinach, lettuce, collards
Cruciferous - Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage
Marrow- Pumpkin, Cucumber, Yellow Squash, Zucchini and Okra
Root-Sweet Potato Yam, Carrots, Radish and Beets
Allium - Onion, Chives and Shallot
Fruits - Tomatos, Melons (Watermelon and Cantaloupe) & Berries
Legumes - Dried and Fresh beans & peas

Culinary Herbs: Oregano, mint, dill, thyme, lemongrass, basil, rosemary, parsley, cilantro and sage
Various Medicinal Herbs that help with respiratory function, allergies, tooth and gum disease, earaches, poor gut health, stress, body soreness, migraines, poor digestion and constipation and so much more.
Shares are purchased upfront before the growing season to adequately know how much to grow. You choose your pickup location from our sites.

Liry's Jewelry was founded by Liredia and her mother Zenaida in 1989. After fleeing Cuba they worked in Zenaida's garage selling jewelry. After making a small name for themselves locally they were able to get into a small retail space on Armenia Ave in Tampa FL. In the late 90's they were able to move into a bigger location on Hanley road. That location is still home of Liry's Jewelry today. In 2015 Liredias son, Daniel, began running day to day operations. Since then Liry's has expanded to national and international markets thanks to its online presence, as well as domestic wholesale and manufacturing.
To this day Liry's is a family owned and operated business.
