Around the world, the queer community is gaining more and more support, although further education could be made to stop the stigma and discrimination against the queer community’s perceived or actual sexual orientation and gender identity. Whilst the London Pride parade has been cancelled this year, we wanted to explore what it means to be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community 🏳️🌈 and in particular what it means to be queer within the Asian community.
Join us and our very first guest of this podcast, Julien, as he shares his stories of growing up queer in Asia. Julien goes by pronouns he/him and recounts his childhood growing up in Asia, including his struggles as he recognised that he may be somewhat different, and his journey on coming out to his family and friends. We recognise how difficult it could be for people within the queer community who may be struggling with their identities and will also include resources/information for those who are looking for someone to speak to and to seek help.
