  • Ask Concussion Doc - Episode 32 | Dizziness, Vertigo & Concussion
Dizziness and vertigo are common symptoms following a concussion.
Although these symptoms often resolve, they can become persistent and debilitating for some patients. The most frustrating part for patients is the lack of visible findings on examination or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to verify their symptoms.
For those that have never heard of vertigo, it is the sensation or feeling of being off balance. A patient often feels like they are spinning, or describe the world as spinning around them.
We talk about these common symptoms in this episode.

  • Ask Concussion Doc - Episode 29 | The Concussion Treatment Episode
Historically, concussed people were told to rest until they feel better. While rest is important in the early stages (24 - 48 hours), that timeline seems to be getting shorter, with longer duration rest causing worse outcomes for patients.
In this episode, we discuss the top 5 causes of persistent concussion symptoms and how to manage complex patients:
    1. Blood flow and autonomic nervous system
    2. Metabolic, inflammatory and hormonal
    3. Visual and vestibular
    4. Cervical spine
    5. Psychological
