The study cases discussed are:

  • Philippines-Italy by Fabio de Blasis

  • Japan-Germany by Miyako Hayakawa and Vanessa Tkotzyk

  • Hong Kong/mainland China-Portugal by Tommy Kwan and Olga Cojocaru

  • Belgium by Lucas Monteil

The AspirE Podcast dives into the human side of (re)migration in and to the EU. Produced as part of the 3-year Horizon Europe project AspirE ("Asian Prospects in (re)migration to/within the EU") and coordinated by Asuncion Fresnoza-Flot, Catherine Gonzalez and Frederik Ponjaert (EAst) for the Université libre de Bruxelles, the podcast explores why people decide to move—or stay—through a unique lens that is gender-aware, decolonial, and context-sensitive.

Across three series, you'll hear from researchers, experts, and aspiring (re)migrants themselves. From policy analysis to personal video diaries, AspirE examines how migration decisions are shaped by time, relationships, emotions, and systems—both in Asia and Europe.
