Today’s guest – Kelly Snyder – illustrates perfectly how and why we are our children’s only advocate. She runs us through realizing her child needed something and fumbling through getting it. When her second child was showing similar signs, she thought she knew what to do…except that everyone is different. Kelly’s situation and her solution might not be ours, but her experience is educational for everyone…and in all aspects.
When it comes to our kids, no resources are needed to ask questions, so start there! Ask teachers, administrators, other parents, friends and groups to learn of others in your situation, and then keep asking. Even strangers might provide valuable insight to people and resources whether your child is a prodigy, a different learner or wants to ride a unicycle for a living. Seek, ask, share.
Glad that she found it, Kelly now recommends the Center for Parent Information & Resources as a great place to start for parents of different learners.
You are your child’s best teacher... and their only advocate.
Aspiring Kids
If you're thinking about having a Million Dollar Year (Episode 2), we want to provide more detail on what to do after your Aspiring Kid earns their lump sum - we didn't want to leave you hanging! Les Watson of Yellowwood Wealth Solutions joins us to offer his expertise on making your Million Dollar Year a reality. Les also offers some answers for parents guiding their Aspiring Kid investors and shares how he went from "socks to stocks." If your goal is to teach your Aspiring Kid how to learn, earn and, ultimately, become a happy, successful adult, the Million Dollar Year might be the best thing they can do for themselves.
Our guest on this episode of AspiringKids is Marie – my aspiring kid! She's had a couple of “wins” lately in some of her “jobs” so I invited her to talk about both her wins and her jobs! You'll leave with some ideas as well as useful insight for you and for your aspiring kid(s).
If you only knew how easy it is to publish a book these days, you might start thinking about what you want to write, and your kids might think about it as well. It’s not only easy – it’s practically free. It's one of those “tools” that I believe our children shouldn’t graduate high school without, so I'll walk you through how to publish a book, and encourage you with some practical ideas for both you and your Aspiring Kids.
The Million Dollar Year is one of the most educational, useful and empowering ideas a parent can give to their children. Exposure to the Million Dollar Year and understanding the opportunities it presents are key, but your child doing it themselves is imperative.
As parents of college-aged and even high school-aged kids are wondering if it’s worth it to send their kids back to school this fall, this COVID year, my 18-year-old is wrapping up her Million Dollar Year.
Let me expose you to the Million Dollar Year in this episode of Aspiring Kids.
Aspiring Kids is about exposing our kids – and ourselves – to the many different opportunities we have today and teaching skills that will brighten both of our futures. Loading their tool belts and opening their minds with what they are not already learning in school.
