Today’s guest – Kelly Snyder – illustrates perfectly how and why we are our children’s only advocate. She runs us through realizing her child needed something and fumbling through getting it. When her second child was showing similar signs, she thought she knew what to do…except that everyone is different. Kelly’s situation and her solution might not be ours, but her experience is educational for everyone…and in all aspects.
When it comes to our kids, no resources are needed to ask questions, so start there! Ask teachers, administrators, other parents, friends and groups to learn of others in your situation, and then keep asking. Even strangers might provide valuable insight to people and resources whether your child is a prodigy, a different learner or wants to ride a unicycle for a living. Seek, ask, share.
Glad that she found it, Kelly now recommends the Center for Parent Information & Resources as a great place to start for parents of different learners.
You are your child’s best teacher... and their only advocate.
