Nottingham Forest were beaten 3-1 at Aston Villa in the Premier League's first game of 2026. It was a case of hitting the self destruct button as Forest played incredibly defensively before conceding on the stroke of half time. Villa scored again at the start of the second after losing the ball cheaply before John Victor gifted them a third after Morgan Gibbs-White had pulled a goal back.
