Why does a Feldenkrais lesson so often leave us feeling peaceful? Feldenkrais practitioner Chava Sorani suggests the answer may be more than relaxation. In everyday life our thoughts, our body and our intentions often pull in different directions. In a lesson, slow movement and attention give them a chance to agree again, and that agreement may be one of the deepest forms of rest. The first episode of a series of short reflections on what changes in us when we move with attention.

What is the Feldenkrais Method? Feldenkrais practitioner Chava Sorani explains it simply: who Moshe Feldenkrais was, why a lesson is a way of learning how you move, and what Awareness Through Movement and Functional Integration lessons are like. She then guides a short seated experiment, turning the head with the eyes leading, that you can try in a chair and feel for yourself.

Feldenkrais practitioner Chava Sorani shares how terrible back pain, a few weeks before her wedding, led her to her first Feldenkrais lesson in a small apartment in Givatayim. She talks about what she came to understand about noticing, ease, and feeling at home in yourself, and offers a short moment of noticing you can try wherever you are. This is the first episode of At Home in Yourself, short thoughts on the Feldenkrais Method.

Welcome to At Home in Yourself, a podcast of short thoughts on the Feldenkrais Method with Chava Sorani, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and the founder of Feldy. Each episode starts from one idea about what changes in us when we move with attention, and some include a small experiment you can try in a chair, right where you are. No experience needed. Start with episode one, Chava's story of how a sore back, a few weeks before her wedding, led her to Feldenkrais. New episodes every two weeks.
