Jackie Evans starts with simple ideas. And from those ideas, Evans’ has written an EP of songs that feel out of time. The viral breakout hit “Most Of The Time”, the somehow-sweet kiss-off anthem “Leave You”, and the inevitable wedding favorites “Quit It!” and “Seven Brides” feel like they each could have been uncovered from a tape buried in the basement of the Brill Building or discovered in the back of Paul Simon’s notebook. And yet, perhaps inspired by a lifetime filled with Carole King and Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel, each tune is a perfect piece of 2020s pop written by this young New York City piano balladeer.

No one would have blamed Danni Bouchard for giving up. Her successful folk pop band, Oh Honey, had come to an end and she had been dropped by her record label all before turning 27.

But Bouchard, committed to a career in music, decided this was a moment for evolution, not concession. Bouchard created the alias Luxtides, taking co-songwriting duties on songs by Natasha Bedingfield and Linney, and providing vocals to countless dance and EDM tracks for producers across the world. Most notably, Luxtides provided vocals for the Grammy nominated "Hero" by Afrojack and David Guetta. 

In this interview, Luxtides discusses her journey from being on the ground during the first wave of 2010s stomp-clap-indie pop, to performing vocals for some of the biggest dance songs in the world.

Cody Fitzgerald is a Brooklyn singer/songwriter and producer. Between his longtime project Stolen Jars, composing music for films like Noelle and The Rewrite, producing for acts like Pom Pom Squad and Lawrence, and now the re-emergence of his college band Hi-Lo Jack, Cody is in a constant state of musical invention. He joins us in the AT-One Studio to discuss Hi-Lo Jack’s debut album, his love of Elvis Costello, and what genres of music he thinks Magic: The Gathering Cards would make.

Sarah Greenwell says she’s a rule-follower, but you wouldn’t guess that from much of her music. She fronts the raucous punk rock group GYMSHORTS, performing zany, off-the-wall songs like “DUI IUD” and “Ding Dong Ditch”. But dig a little deeper and you’ll discover Greenwell’s more intimate project, greeensleeves. This conversation covers her relationship with performing as both part of a band and as a more vulnerable solo act.
