@sauvagemusicofficial an indie-pop singer-songwriter originally from the UK explores the human experience, through the voice and perspective of a 21 year old LGBT artist.
A lot of the lyrics that Sauvage writes centre on human struggles surrounding mental illness, identity, heartbreak, relationships, grief and loneliness. Writing songs is Sauvage’s way of navigating all of these personal issues. And if people are able to identify with any of what Sauvage is going through, then that is amazing.
Songs such as “Breathe” attempt to normalise mental illness, while potentially giving others a deeper understanding of what it is like to struggle with lifelong anxiety and depression.
Through music Sauvage also aims to give an insight into what it is like to identify as gay and gender non-conforming in a world where the identities of LGBT peoples are often rejected or erased. “The music industry needs more representation of non-straight artists, so am happy to be adding to this representation.” Says Sauvage.
