Recorded on October 6th, 2026, in our 32nd Episode we will be providing a comprehensive run-down on the history of Athletic Club de Bilbao and their place in Spanish soccer, by request of a listener of the show.
In it, we will discuss the origins of the club and their initial era of dominance from 1898 through 1929 (1:26), their early dominance of La Liga from 1929 through 1936 (10:50), the club's role in the Republican cause from exile during the Spanish Civil War from 1936 through 1939 (12:17), their post war era as a beacon of Basque identity on the field through 1976 (16:14), the last great Athletic Club Dynasty of the 1980s (22:57), the valleys and peaks of the 1990s and 2000s (24:45), the Bielsa triggered and Valverde continued return to prominence of the early 2010s (29:35), and the return of the Gabarra and Athletic Club excellence from 2022 onward (36:18).
