What are the qualifications for an elder?

The second of a two-part series on what the seventh commandment forbids, this message hits attacks sodomy and other unnatural sexual expressions.

The law forbids sexually impure thoughts, words, and actions. Among the topics covered are bigamy and polygamy; unjust divorce; adultery; and a Christian marrying an unbeliever or someone from a false religion or a member of a cult or a false church (such as Mormonism and Roman Catholicism).

This message maintains that because the law of God is universal, each of the commandments must apply to all of the institutions and spheres of society, including Family, Church, and State. Further, the principle that the civil magistrate should punish overt violations of the seventh commandment, such as adultery, homosexuality, incest, bestiality, and pornography, is pre-Mosaic, though the various case laws confirm and strengthen the principle.
