  • BangTheBook Sports Betting Talk Radio Podcast February 26, 2019
Two smart veterans of the sports betting business joined us on the Tuesday February 26 edition of BangTheBook Radio. Please excuse the early sound issues, as Brian Blessing, the host of Sportsbook Radio and Vegas Hockey Hotline, joined us for our Betting the Board grab bag type of segment, as the guys recapped the NHL Trade Deadline, surveyed tonight's card, and discussed how long it will take teams to get on track. They also talked about the new NASCAR rules package and about what makes handicapping so tough at this time of the year. Finally, they touched on the Honda Classic golf event at PGA National.
Ralph Michaels from WagerTalk.com joined us for the Capping the Card segment to discuss college basketball. The guys talked about yesterday's listener question from the Monday Mailbag about a different bankroll for each sport. They also talked about final week of the regular season betting angles in small conferences and about what this time of the year means for bigger conferences. They looked at the futures betting market and also at Ralph's top situational and technical plays for this week.

It felt good to get back to normal on the Monday February 25 edition of BangTheBook Radio. Host Adam Burke isn't quite there yet, but he's on the mend and sounded a lot better answering your listener questions on the Monday Mailbag. Listeners asked about a variety of different things, including money line rollovers for March Madness and conference tournaments, bankroll management by sport, the Home Run King, pitch clocks, the Cubs PECOTA projection, closing line value, Robert Kraft, and betting value based on numbers.
Kyle Hunter from HunterSportsPicks.com joined us for the first of two Handicapping the Hardwood segments for this week. The guys chatted about the America East Conference and the Northeast Conference to get some insight on those two leagues before conference tournaments start next week. The guys also looked at some fade/follow and regression candidates and dug into some big games for this week.

We eased our way back into it today on BangTheBook Radio, as host Adam Burke made his return to the airwaves following a bout with pneumonia. We finished the week as we started it. Professional handicapper Kyle Hunter of HunterSportsPicks.com joined us to chat about the Patriot League and also preview the weekend in college hoops. Our conference by conference breakdowns continued with a conference that has seen some strong teams like Bucknell and Lehigh in recent years and Kyle gave us his thoughts on this year's version.
The guys also looked at some fade/follow teams and some games for this weekend, including Tennessee vs. LSU, Florida State vs. North Carolina, and Michigan State vs. Michigan.

The show must go on. Under-the-weather host Adam Burke didn't want to leave our BangTheBook Radio listeners hanging to start the week, so he battled through on this February 18 edition of the show. As luck would have it, the first 25 minutes belonged to Adam with the Monday Mailbag segment, as he answered listener questions on bar games, books taking a side, key numbers in basketball, futures and hedging strategies, totals betting, and pace wars.
Kyle Hunter from HunterSportsPicks.com and BangTheBook.com joined us for the second part of the show. The guys followed up with some of the listener questions, including the key numbers in college hoops and also how to determine how pace wars will play out. Then they dug into the Southland conference, as we're just about done with our conference breakdowns. After looking at some fade/follow and some regression teams, the guys previewed some big games for the week ahead.

We rounded out a fine week on BangTheBook Radio with this Friday February 15 edition of the program. Host Adam Burke had a few opening remarks before playing yesterday's recorded segment with Christian Pina on UFC on ESPN 1. The main event between Francis Ngannou and Cain Velasquez was covered, along with other fights on the card to Christian's liking. The mechanics of UFC betting were seamlessly worked into the breakdowns of the card to provide a comprehensive look at this UFC Phoenix event.
Kyle Hunter from HunterSportsPicks.com and also BangTheBook.com joined us to chat college hoops during our second Handicapping the Hardwood segment for this week. The guys dug into the Big South Conference to get some betting angles in that league, which hadn't been lined in the regular season until this season. The guys also looked at a fade/follow set of teams and then looked at some games for this weekend, including a bubble battle between Oklahoma and TCU and a top-five clash in Rupp Arena between Tennessee and Kentucky.

Two professional handicappers joined the show for our Thursday February 14 edition and the guys talked a lot of basketball. Host Adam Burke opened up the show with Brad Powers from BradPowersSports.com. The guys talked, as always, about some college football to talk about 2019 season preparations. They also took a quick look at the NBA All-Star Game, as Brad had some interesting takes. Finally, it was all college hoops, as they talked about overrated and underrated teams, futures market value, and the Saturday card chock full of big matchups.
Tony George from Doc's Sports rejoined the program this week to talk about his NBA first half betting strategy and what has given him so much success with those types of bets. The guys also talked about tonight's three games leading into the All-Star Break and gave a few early thoughts on how to approach the return of the NBA prior to next Thursday's new set of games. We're moving right along with this week on BangTheBook Radio. Host Adam Burke didn't do a Monday show, which meant no Kyle Hunter, but we'll have him on Wednesday and Friday this week instead. Adam and Kyle dug deep into the SWAC, one of the conferences that wasn't regularly lined up until this year, to look at some betting angles and profile the teams in that very low-major conference. They also looked at some regression candidates, some follow/fade teams, and four games coming up the rest of this week.
Wes Reynolds joined us to chat some college basketball and also to break down the Genesis Open on today's show. The guys took a look at name-brand teams and when to try to pinpoint upsets now that we're in the dog days of winter and there have been some good teams that have gone down and others that have come close. The Genesis Open at Riviera features an outstanding field this week and a lot of different handicapping angles. Wes talked about his favorite picks for the event.

We fired up a new week of BangTheBook Radio a day later this week, as host Adam Burke was joined by two smart, experienced handicapping minds in Brian Blessing of Sportsbook Radio and Vegas Hockey Hotline and also Ralph Michaels of WagerTalk.com. With Brian, the guys talked about the current betting landscape in the NHL, including a big, busy card for February 12. They also talked about the Genesis Open PGA Tour event and some of the top contenders for this week at Riviera. This is a star-studded field to say the least.
Ralph Michaels from WagerTalk.com joined us to chat college hoops, as the guys took a look at the ACC and the Missouri Valley Conference with today's conference breakdowns. They dug into what we've seen recently from top teams like Duke and Virginia, but mostly focused on handicapping the middle of the pack and the bottom of the standings to isolate the teams that have some value down there. It was good to get another look at the MVC from a set of fresh eyes. Ralph also included his top situational and technical plays of the week.

  • BangTheBook Sports Betting Talk Radio Podcast February 8, 2019
We didn't do a full show on the Friday February 8 edition of BangTheBook Radio, but we didn't want to leave you empty-handed going into the weekend. As a result, host Adam Burke got together with Christian Pina of the Sports Gambling Podcast and our BangTheBook UFC writer to talk about UFC 234. It isn't a great card, but we made a great segment out of it by discussing the different betting tools and strategies that are at your disposal within this market. The guys talked about some arbitrage opportunities and some parlay betting options for the fights.
Christian did share his top fight opinions and broke down the main event between Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum and also talked about the other fights on the card, including Israel Adesanya vs. Anderson Silva and Smilin' Sam Alvey's matchup.
