Student feedback is notoriously inconsistent - some students rave about the lecturer and course while others do nothing but complain. This presentation reports on a preliminary study to determine whether student's attitudes to learning and motivation for learning are influenced by external forces and/or a need for cognition. It also explores how this is reflected in student feedback.
