Dr. Julie Riley joins the Inside Tract to discuss peer support and how it relates to job satisfaction and physician wellness.

Dr. Riley is an assistant professor and the Director of Endourology and Director of Urologic Research at the University of New Mexico. She also serves as the medical director of the urology clinic and quality officer for the division of urology.

Today we’re talking to Dr. Terry Grimm, the AUA’s lead delegate to the AMA House of Delegates, which just wrapped up its November  2019 Interim Meeting. 

Dr. Grimm is a urologist in Lexington, Ky. 

Today's episode of the AUA Inside Tract podcast is based on a section of the "Transitioning from Residency to Practice Manual."

This manual is now in its 4th Edition and has been prepared by the AUA's Young Urologists Committee (YUC). The Young Urologists Committee has prepared this manual to guide residents and young urologists as they embark on their transition to practice.

One of the goals of this manual is to answer questions like, “which type of practice should I enter? Academic, private, or hospital-based?” It also provides information on the application process, contract negotiation, and physician compensation models. In this week’s top advocacy news, the National Academy of Medicine recently released a new report on clinician burnout that addresses the prevalence of burnout, its impact on healthcare in the United States, and addresses six goals for stakeholders to “prevent and mitigate clinician burnout and foster professional well-being.”

The Urology Care Foundation is the official foundation of the American Urological Association (AUA). On this episode of the AUA's Inside Tract podcast, Sanford J. Siegel, M.D., discusses the importance of the Foundation and why he supports it.
