Sigo buscando espacios y tiempo para hablar sobre mi enfermedad/condición de salud: Anemia Falciforme y educar sobre el tema a quienes no lo conozcan. Y aunque me ha costado volver a los videos, creo que hablar de este tema de ayuda muchísimo porque es el que más domino y conozco. En el video les comparto cómo el clima puede modificar nuestra rutina y estilo de vida teniendo esta condición de salud, e inicio hablándoles sobre el impacto del frío en el cuerpo.

Debo aclarar -cosa que no menciono en el video- que el frío a mí particularmente siempre me va a afectar porque nací en el Caribe, y por más años que pase en climas con bajas temperaturas, el cuerpo no se acostumbra fácilmente a ellos. Ahora, un paciente nacido en los Andes o zonas más frías posiblemente no padezca como lo hago yo, estas temperaturas. No obstante, científicamente este clima sí genera muchísimos síntomas negativos en los falcémicos. Ahora bien, también menciono que el calor me pega y puede afectarme bastante, porque con esta condición soy propensa a la deshidratación, y las altas temperaturas también promueven la caída de los valores. En conclusión, es una lucha constante, estar muy atenta a todo el contexto para poder lograr el equilibrio. La exposición a las temperaturas altas o bajas podemos sentirlas rápidamente impactando la calidad de vida de los pacientes.

Aunque una persona diga "no hace tanto frío", eso no necesariamente es verdad para quienes padecen esta patología como yo. A mi me toca siempre tomar decisiones que pueden verse exageradas como llevar una chaqueta muy grande para un clima "medianamente templado". Y todo depende de mis valores. Este es un tema que me parece muy interesante, sin embargo aún no tengo respuestas de cómo manejar las variables que puedan impactar en mi salud. ¡Seguiré descubriéndolo y compartiéndolo!

I keep looking for spaces and moments to talk about my illness/health condition: Sickle Cell Anemia, and to educate those who may not know about it. And although it has been hard for me to get back into making videos, I believe talking about this topic helps a lot—because it’s the one I know best and have the most experience with. In the video, I share how the weather can affect our routines and lifestyle when living with this condition, starting with the impact of cold on the body.

I should clarify—something I didn’t mention in the video—that cold will always affect me personally because I was born in the Caribbean, and no matter how many years I spend in low-temperature climates, the body doesn’t easily adapt to them. On the other hand, a patient born in the Andes or colder regions may not suffer from cold as I do. Nevertheless, scientifically, cold weather does trigger many negative symptoms in sickle cell patients. I also mention that heat affects me and can hit me hard, since with this condition I’m prone to dehydration, and high temperatures can also cause blood values to drop. In conclusion, it’s a constant battle—staying very aware of my surroundings in order to find balance. Exposure to both high and low temperatures can quickly impact the quality of life of patients.

And while someone might say “it’s not that cold,” that’s not necessarily true for those of us who live with this condition. I always have to make decisions that may seem “exaggerated,” like wearing a heavy jacket in “mild” weather. And it all depends on my blood values. This is a very interesting topic for me, but I still don’t have all the answers about how to handle the variables that affect my health. I’ll keep learning and sharing as I go!

Hoy se cumplen 10 años desde el nacimiento de Ethereum y todo el ecosistema web3 lo celebra. No me quise quedar atrás así que les comparto un poco de lo que fue el Ethereum Lima Day, un evento realizado el pasado mes de mayo en la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú. Este fue un evento que convocó a muchísimas comunidades de Perú y contó con ponentes internacionales.

Algunos apenas descubren blockchain pero ya se cumple una década desde que se lanzó su mainnet. Y ha sido un recorrido lleno de complejidades para tener el escenario que tenemos hoy: miles de eventos, miles de dApps, y personas trabajando por un futuro descentralizado en blockchain.

Pese a estar un poco alejada de los eventos presenciales, para mí siempre es valiosa la organización, el esfuerzo y la información que se brindan en espacios como estos. Today marks 10 years since the birth of Ethereum, and the entire web3 ecosystem is celebrating. I didn’t want to be left out, so I’m sharing a bit of what the Ethereum Lima Day was like — an event held this past May at the National Library of Peru. It brought together many communities from across Peru and featured international speakers.

Some are just now discovering blockchain, yet it’s already been a decade since the Ethereum mainnet was launched. It’s been a journey full of complexities that led us to where we are today: thousands of events, thousands of dApps, and people working toward a decentralized future on the blockchain.

Even though I’ve been a bit distant from in-person events, I always value the organization, effort, and knowledge shared in spaces like these. I hope to soon share more about the web3 scene in Lima. Hoy 19 de junio se conmemora a los Pacientes con Anemia Falciforme por una resolución de la ONU emitida en el 2008. Confieso que yo me enteré de esta fecha importante hace poco menos de 5 años. Y a pesar de eso, no ha sido marcada en mi calendario. De hecho fue totalmente fortuito que haya podido hacer este video a tiempo. ¿Por qué? En definitiva no me enteré de la campaña por alguna difusión en LATAM para darle visibilidad a esta condición, sino por una publicación de una hematóloga que habla mucho del caso.

Leí e investigué un poco más del tema -fuentes abajo ⬇️ del post- pero no entendí muy bien porqué se escogió la fecha. Sin embargo en EEUU, países de África y en Brasil es una fecha importante para las fundaciones e instituciones que se organizan para educar a los demás sobre este tipo de enfermedades.

Hace algunos años atrás, me topé con un grupo de pacientes que tenían un grupo de apoyo e hicimos un video para las redes sociales, yo todavía no hacía videos, y me daba mucha vergüenza hablar del tema.

Pero aquí mismo en la Blockchain de Hive hay más de un usuario con esta condición y lo sé por la etiqueta de sickle cell. Un abrazo para todos ustedes. Sé que vinimos al mundo a dejar huellas con nuestra historia de vida tan compleja. 🥺🫂

Today, June 19th, we commemorate Sickle Cell Patients, as declared by a UN resolution issued in 2008. I must confess, I only learned about this important date a little less than five years ago. And even so, it hasn’t been marked on my calendar. In fact, it was completely by chance that I managed to make this video on time. Why? Because I didn’t find out about this day through any awareness campaign in LATAM, but rather through a post by a hematologist who frequently talks about the condition.

I read and researched a bit more about it – sources below ⬇️ the post – but I didn’t fully understand why this date was chosen. However, in the US, African countries, and Brazil, it’s an important date for foundations and institutions that work to educate others about this type of disease.

A few years ago, I came across a group of patients who had a support group, and we made a video for social media. Back then, I wasn’t making videos yet, and I was very embarrassed to talk about the topic.

But right here on the Hive Blockchain, there’s more than one user with this condition, and I know that thanks to the “sickle cell” tag. A hug to all of you. I know we came into this world to leave a mark with our deeply complex life stories. 🥺🫂

Hola, hola, amigos hace poco publiqué por error un video que salió dos veces, un error que me estresó muchísimo por días y que me hizo perder la constancia que estaba llevando en mi blog. Uff, hace mucho que no edito un video, creo que me está costando pero no es nada que la constancia no pueda resolver. En este caso, les grabé la nueva adquisición de labial que adquirí en una tienda llamada Aruma, una cadena donde venden cosméticos, y productos de belleza 😍 que me encanta.

Hay algunos labiales que se han hecho "virales" y yo creí que este era uno de ellos. No fue así, pero me encantó la sorpresa que obtuve al comprarlo. Este tipo de labiales son justos y necesarios para estás fechas en las que el clima está más frío. Hive continúa creciendo a pasos agigantados. Para quienes llevamos años usando las redes sociales de Hive, y que hemos hecho onboarding en el ecosistema de web3, sabe lo mucho que nos han preguntado por los Smart contracts, una de las herramientas en blockchain más populares. Y sin embargo, VSC lo hará posible con Hive.

Este es un proyecto al que le tengo la mira hace rato porque precisamente los desarrolladores que he conocido en Lima, desean desplegar Smart contracts. Y ahora podrán hacerlo.

Además, este proyecto abrirá la economía de Hive convirtiéndolo en una potencia DeFi, dónde podremos hacer staking líquido con HBD.

Es un trabajo arduo el que están haciendo los chicos que lideran el proyecto, desde hacer pruebas en la red, hasta participar en eventos para compartir sus avances con los demás.

Siempre me han dicho que Hive ha perdurado en el tiempo gracias a su comunidad que ha hecho posible el crecimiento. Y hemos sido una comunidad con lazos muy fraternales entre nosotros. Pero hay una realidad, y es que muchas cadenas han evolucionado para ser interoperable con otras redes. Esto impulsará aún más la adopción de nuestro ecosistema y será muy atractivo para programadores y builders DeFi. 👏

En marzo de este año @vsc.network lanzó la mainnet y hasta la fecha hay más de 30 nodos desplegados. Y tienen una propuesta para que todos los usuarios conozcamos los avances y apoyemos la financiación de su ejecución Léela aquí de forma efectiva.

Aunque yo no sepa desplegar estos contratos en definitiva me animaría a hacerlo en Hive, para comprender aún más las oportunidades que se abren con esta nueva capa.

Imagina un internet en dónde las redes colaboran entre sí y dónde los usuarios pueden aprovechar las bondades y beneficios de sus productos y/o servicios, sin tener que estar aislados. Bueno, ese es el futuro que se quiere construir 😍

This is a project I've had my eye on for a while, especially because many developers I've met in Lima want to deploy smart contracts. And now, they'll be able to.

Moreover, this project will open up Hive’s economy, turning it into a DeFi powerhouse, where we'll be able to do liquid staking with HBD.

It’s a huge effort being led by the team behind this initiative—from testing on the network to participating in events to share their progress with the community.

I’ve always been told that Hive has endured over time thanks to its community, which has made growth possible. And we've been a community with strong fraternal ties. But there's a reality we must face: many chains have evolved to become interoperable with other networks. This will further boost adoption of our ecosystem and make it highly attractive for DeFi developers and builders. 👏

In March of this year, @vsc.network launched its mainnet, and to date, over 30 nodes have been deployed. They also have a proposal so that all users can stay informed about their progress and effectively support the funding of its execution:

Even though I don’t know how to deploy these contracts myself (yet), I’d definitely be encouraged to try it on Hive—to better understand the opportunities that come with this new layer.

Retomé ni tratamiento de romero para el cabello porque sentía que se me estaba cayendo mucho y eso se debe a un medicamento que estoy tomando. Bueno aquí vamos una vez más tratando de ser un poco más prolijos con el discurso para contar un tema de salud, que me ha acompañado siempre: la Anemia Falciforme 🌶️.

Después de conversarlo con varios médicos, ellos creen que es una buena idea 💡 que yo utilice mis redes para contar más de cerca sobre mi condición y porqué en ocasiones me enfermo mucho.

Je, je, je, esas ausencias o recaídas se deben a Anemia Falciforme, que genera diversos episodios críticos de salud pero el que más afecta es el dolor, aparece ocasionalmente sin aviso y te paraliza. La causa es la forma de hoz de mis glóbulos rojos, esta es una anemia hereditaria y sin cura hasta el momento. A nivel de salud mental me ha generado muchas tristezas y muchos aprendizajes que han sido positivos.

Estoy tratando de educar sobre el tema basado en mi propia experiencia. ☺️ Algunas personas se molestan con quienes cuentan sus vulnerabilidades pero si yo lo oculto me pongo en peligro. Así que 🤭 seguiré hablando del tema, pero esta vez con una sonrisa 🩸😍.

Well, here we go once again, trying to be a bit more polished with my speech to talk about a health condition that has always been with me: Sickle Cell Anemia 🌶️.

After discussing it with several doctors, they believe it’s a good idea 💡 for me to use my social media to share more about my condition and why I sometimes get seriously ill.

Haha, those absences or relapses are due to Sickle Cell Anemia, which causes various critical health episodes, but the most significant one is pain. It appears unexpectedly and paralyzes you. The cause is the sickle shape of my red blood cells—this is a hereditary anemia with no cure so far. On a mental health level, it has brought me many sorrows but also valuable lessons.

I’m trying to educate people about it based on my own experience ☺️. Some people get upset when others share their vulnerabilities, but if I hide it, I put myself at risk. So 🤭 I will keep talking about it, but this time with a smile 🩸😍.
