ਟੋਡੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਦੁਪਦੇ    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਸੰਤਨ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਖੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਊਚ ਸਮਾਨਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇਰੋ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਤਾਨੀ ॥ ਐਸੋ ਅਮਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਉ ਰਾਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਦੁਖ ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਨਿਕਟਾਨੀ ॥ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਏਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੀ ॥੨॥੧॥

 ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ (ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਕਰਨੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਇਉਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ-) ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਆਨਾ (ਸਭ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਆਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੇ (ਇਤਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਆਨਾ ਕਦੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਣਿਆ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਰੋਗ, ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ, ਬੁਢੇਪਾ, ਮੌਤ (-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੇ। ਉਹ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਨਿਡਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।੧।

(O brother! Those saints keep saying thus-) O Lord! Your canopy is higher (than the canopy of all kings and emperors), no one else has ever stretched (such a high canopy). O brother! The saints have found such an ever-lasting God, those saints who have the understanding of spiritual life remain (always) engrossed in the love of God.1.

O Nanak! Disease, worry, old age, death (these fears) do not even come close to the servants of God. They remain fearless (from the fears of the world) by fixing their minds on the one God alone. Their minds remain steadfast in the remembrance of the Lord.2.1.

  ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਸੇ ਬਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਤੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਸਹਸਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਈ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਬੱਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧। ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਛੁਟੜਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣਿ ਬਦਨਾਉ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਖਸੀਅਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਥਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਥਿੱਤਾ; ਉਹ ਵਿਭ-ਚਾਰਨ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨। ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਸੇ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਿ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਛਡਿ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਸੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਇਆ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੭॥  ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਂਵਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਨਮਾਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ।੭।  SHALOK THIRD MEHL:  Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, suffer in sorrow and bondage. Again and again, they are born only to die; they cannot meet their Lord. The disease of doubt does not depart, and they find only pain and more pain. O Nanak, if the Gracious Lord forgives, then one is united in Union with the Word of the Shabad. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, shall find no place of rest or shelter. They wander around from door to door, like a woman forsaken, with a bad character and a bad reputation. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are forgiven, and united in Union with the True Guru. || 2 || PAUREE: Those who serve the True Lord, the Destroyer of ego, cross over the terrifying world-ocean. Those who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are passed over by the Messenger of Death. Those who meditate on the Lord, go to His Court in robes of honor. They alone serve You, O Lord, whom You bless with Grace. I sing continually Your Glorious Praises, O Beloved; as Gurmukh, my doubts and fears have been dispelled. || 7 || 

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥ ਆਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਂਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਫਿਰਤ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥ ਆਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਂਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਸੁਰਗ ਮਿਰਤ ਪਇਆਲ ਭੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਮਾਇ ॥ ਜੀਅ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੨॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੩॥੩॥੨੧॥ DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:Wandering and roaming around, I met the Holy Perfect Guru, who has taught me. All other devices did not work, so I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. || 1 || For this reason, I sought the Protection and Support of my Lord, the Cherisher of the Universe. I sought the Sanctuary of the Perfect Transcendent Lord, and all my entanglements were dissolved. || Pause || Paradise, the earth, the nether regions of the underworld, and the globe of the world ó all are engrossed in Maya. To save your soul, and liberate all your ancestors, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. || 2 || O Nanak, singing the Naam, the Name of the Immaculate Lord, all treasures are obtained. Only that rare person, whom the Lord and Master blesses with His Grace, comes to know this. || 3 || 3 || 21 ||ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਕਿ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ। (ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ) ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਜੰਜਾਲ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੇਵ ਲੋਕ, ਮਾਤ-ਲੋਕ, ਪਾਤਾਲ-ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।੨।ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਗਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਇਹ ਭੇਤ) ਕਿਸੇ (ਉਸ) ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।੩।੨੧।

ਰਾਗੁ ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਕੀੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਛੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਕਾਹੋ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਜਲੁ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਪੈਸਿ ਨ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਢੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗਾ ਮੈ ਤਉ ਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਭੋਰਾ ॥ ਜਉ ਤਨੁ ਕਾਸੀ ਤਜਹਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਰਮਈਐ ਕਹਾ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਲੋਈ ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ ਕਿਆ ਕਾਸੀ ਕਿਆ ਊਖਰੁ ਮਗਹਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਉ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥੩॥
ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮੁੜ) ਵੱਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਕਬੀਰ) ਜੁਲਾਹ (ਭੀ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ-ਮਿੱਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ) ਮੈਂ ਮੱਤ ਦਾ ਕਮਲਾ ਹੀ ਸਹੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਲੋਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਏ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਖਣ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਗਹਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ) । (ਪਰ,) ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸਰੀਰ ਛੱਡੇਂ (ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ) ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਇਗਾ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਉਂਞ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਰਨ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਲਾਭ?।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਪਰ) ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ (ਕਿ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਗਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ) , ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਕਲਰਾਠਾ ਮਗਹਰ ਕੀਹ (ਦੋਹੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।੩।
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ: ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤੀਰਥ-ਯਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੩।

That humble being, who knows even a little about loving devotional worship — what surprises are there for him? Like water, dripping into water, which cannot be separated out again, so is the weaver Kabeer, with softened heart, merged into the Lord. || 1 || O people of the Lord, I am just a simple-minded fool. If Kabeer were to leave his body at Benares, and so liberate himself, what obligation would he have to the Lord? || 1 || Pause || Says Kabeer, listen, O people — do not be deluded by doubt. What is the difference between Benares and the barren land of Maghar, if the Lord is within one’s heart? || 2 || 3 ||

 ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਚਉਪਦੇ ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥਾ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਉਤਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਰਿਨੁ ਲਾਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭਿ ਅਰਥਾ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਾਥਾ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਥਾ ॥੨॥ ਜਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਨਾਥਾ ॥ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥਾ ॥੩॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਗਿਆਨਹੀਨ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਿਉ ਚਾਲਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੰਥਾ ॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਚਲੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਲਹ ਮਿਲੰਥਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ) । (ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੋਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅੰਨਿ੍ਹਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਸਕੀਏ।੪।੧।

The Jewel of the Lord’s Name abides within my heart; the Guru has placed His hand on my forehead. The sins and pains of countless incarnations have been cast out. The Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and my debt has been paid off. || 1 || O my mind, vibrate the Lord’s Name, and all your affairs shall be resolved. The Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord’s Name within me; without the Name, life is useless. || Pause || Without the Guru, the self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant; they are forever entangled in emotional attachment to Maya. They never serve the feet of the Holy; their lives are totally useless. || 2 || Those who serve at the feet of the Holy, the feet of the Holy, their lives are made fruitful, and they belong to the Lord. Make me the slave of the slave of the slaves of the Lord; bless me with Your Mercy, O Lord of the Universe. || 3 || I am blind, ignorant and totally without wisdom; how can I walk on the Path? I am blind — O Guru, please let me grasp the hem of Your robe, so that servant Nanak may walk in harmony with You. || 4 || 1 

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਬੀਂਗ ਦਾਸ ਕੇ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਛਡਾਇ ਲੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥ ਉਰਝਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਜਾਲੁ ਜਗੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੋਖ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਰਾਲਾ ॥ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੨॥ ਸੋਗ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ਦੂਰਿ ਭਈ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੨੮॥ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਜਗਤ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ-) ਜਾਲ (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ) ਚੀੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਆਪ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।੧।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਜੇਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਐਬ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।੨।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗ਼ਮ ਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਭਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ।੩।ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਫੜ ਲਏ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ।੪।੨੨।੨੮।ਨੋਟ: ਸਾਰਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ "ਭੂਤ ਕਾਲ" ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ 'ਸਦਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ' ਸਮਝਣਾ ਹੈ। ਅਰਥ 'ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਕਾਲ' ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੈ।SOOHEE, FIFTH MEHL:God covers the many shortcomings of His slaves. Granting His Mercy, God makes them His own. || 1 || You emancipate Your humble servant, and rescue him from the noose of the world, which is just a dream. || 1 || Pause || Even huge mountains of sin and corruption are removed in an instant by the Merciful Lord. || 2 || Sorrow, disease and the most terrible calamities are removed by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 3 || Bestowing His Glance of Grace, He attaches us to the hem of His robe. Grasping the Lord’s Feet, O Nanak, we enter His Sanctuary. || 4 || 22 || 28 ||

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੌਂ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਡੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇਖੂਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂਆਉਂਦਾ, ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਭੀ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਦੇ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਔਖੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਨਦੀ ਤਰੀ ਜਾਸਕੇ।੧।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ, ਧਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਆਦ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂਵਸਾਂਦੇ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦਾਗਹਣਾ ਹੈ।੨।੮।੧੨।

JAITSREE, FIFTH MEHL:

After wandering through so many incarnations, I have come to Your Sanctuary. Save me — lift my body up out of the deep, dark pit of the world, and attach me to Your feet. || 1 || Pause || I do not know anything about spiritual wisdom, meditation or karma, and my way of life is not clean and pure. Please attach me to the hem of the robe of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; help me to cross over the terrible river. || 1 || Comforts, riches and the sweet pleasures of Maya — do not implant these within your mind. Slave Nanak is satisfied and satiated by the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan; his only ornamentation is the love of the Lord’s Name. || 2 || 8 || 12 ||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋਈ ਗਨਹੁ ਅਭਾਗਾ ॥ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਗਿਓ ਅਮਿਅ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਪਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਾਗਾ ॥ ਆਲਸੁ ਛੀਜਿ ਗਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਜਹ ਜਹ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਗਾ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਉਦਕੁ ਪੀਵਤ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਸਭਿ ਅਨੁਰਾਗਾ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੪੭॥ ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਆਲਸ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ, (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਸਮਝੋ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ) ਜਿਧਰ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਥੇ ਉਥੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਾਗਾ (ਸਾਰੇ ਮਣਕਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੋਹ-ਪਿਆਰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।੧੯।੪੭।DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:One who forgets the Lord of life, the Great Giver — know that he is most unfortunate. One whose mind is in love with the Lord’s lotus feet, obtains the pool of ambrosial nectar. || 1 || Your humble servant awakes in the Love of the Lord’s Name. All laziness has departed from his body, and his mind is attached to the Beloved Lord. || Pause || Wherever I look, the Lord is there; He is the string, upon which all hearts are strung. Drinking in the water of the Naam, servant Nanak has renounced all other loves. || 2 || 16 || 47 ||

ਤਿਲੰਗ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ਇਆਨੜੀਏ ਮਾਨੜਾ ਕਾਇ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥ ਆਪਨੜੈ ਘਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੋ ਕੀ ਨ ਮਾਣੇਹਿ ॥ ਸਹੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਧਨ ਕੰਮਲੀਏ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਢੂਢੇਹਿ ॥ ਭੈ ਕੀਆ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਲਾਈਆ ਨੈਣੀ ਭਾਵ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥ ਤਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਲਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਸਹੁ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਇਆਣੀ ਬਾਲੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਹ ਕਰੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ ਲਬ ਲੋਭ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ ਇਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਇਆਣੀ ॥੨॥ ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਵਾਹੈ ਕਿਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹਿਕਮਤਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਈਐ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਉ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ ਸਹੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੋ ਦੀਜੈ ਐਸਾ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ ਏਵ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭੈਣੇ ਇਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਤਾ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਉਰੁ ਕੈਸੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥ ਸਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਸਭਰਾਈ ॥ ਐਸੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜ ਕੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਾਇ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਇ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਚਖਣਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਾ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥

O most ignorant being! Why do you take such a bad pride? God is in your own heart-house, why do you not enjoy His (meeting)? O naive woman! The husband-Lord is dwelling near you (within you), why do you wander around in search of the outside world (forests etc.)? (If you want to see Him, then put the threads of fear and reverence (of the Lord) in your eyes of knowledge, and adorn yourself with the garland of the Lord's love.

A woman is considered to be blessed with a happy marriage and attached to the Lord's feet only when the Lord-Husband loves her.1.

(But) what can even an ignorant woman do if that woman is not pleasing to the Lord-Khasam? No matter how much such a living being may beg, she cannot find the palace of her husband-Lord. (The truth is that) no matter how much a living being may run and run, nothing is achieved without the gaze of the Lord's mercy.

If a living being remains intoxicated with the lust of the tongue, greed and ego (the former), and remains always immersed in the attachment of Maya (to wealth), then the Lord is not found for these reasons. That living being remains ignorant (who remains intoxicated with vices and yet thinks that she can please her husband-Lord).2.

(Those who have found their husband-Lord, of course) go and ask those who are blessed with a happy marriage, by what means one obtains the Lord of the worlds, (they answer that) give up cunning and pushing, consider whatever the Lord does as good and accept it (with all one's heart), attach your mind to the feet of the Lord, by whose love one obtains the Name and the things, do whatever the Lord of the worlds commands, surrender your body and mind to Him, that's all! Use this fragrance (for life). The women who are blessed with a happy marriage say that O sister! By these means alone one obtains the Lord of the worlds. 3.

The Lord of the worlds is obtained only when one removes ego. Without this, any other endeavor is a vain and deceitful endeavor. Consider that day (of life) successful when the husband-Lord looks with the eyes of mercy, (on whom) the wife (of the husband) looks (with mercy) as if she finds nine treasures.

O Nanak! The wife who is dear to her husband-Lord is blessed with a happy destiny, she attains respect and honor in the (worldly) family. The one who remains imbued with the love of the Lord, the one who remains intoxicated with steadfastness, the one who remains engrossed in the love of the Lord day and night, she is called beautiful, of beautiful form, intelligent and wise.4.2.4.

 ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਕਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਈ ਕਿਵ ਛੂਟਹ ਹਮ ਛੁਟਕਾਕੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਬੇੜੀ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਤਰੈ ਤਰਾਕੀ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੁ ਜਪਾਵਹੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਮ ਮਾਗੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਇਕਾਕੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਬਚਨਾਕੀ ॥ ਲੇਖਾ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤਿ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸਭ ਛੂਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਬਾਕੀ ॥੨॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਪਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ॥ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਸੂਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ਸਿਵ ਚਰਿਓ ਚੰਦੁ ਚੰਦਾਕੀ ॥੩॥ ਤੁਮ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਡ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਤੁਮ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਅਪਾਕੀ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਕੀ ॥੪॥੬॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਦੇਹ। ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਦੱਸ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਦੱਸ; ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਚਾਂ? (ਉੱਤਰ-) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਹ ਤਾਰੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਚਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਪਤ ਨੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ) ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੱਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਠੰਢਕ ਪੁਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਚੰਦ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ; (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਤਪਦਾ ਸੂਰਜ (ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ।੩।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ; ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ; ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਤੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ।੪।੬।

DHANAASAREE, FOURTH MEHL:

Tell me, O Siblings of Destiny, the religion for this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. I seek emancipation — how can I be emancipated? Meditation on the Lord, Har, Har, is the boat, the raft; meditating on the Lord, the swimmer swims across. || 1 || O Dear Lord, protect and preserve the honor of Your humble servant. O Lord, Har, Har, please make me chant the chant of Your Name; I beg only for Your devotional worship. || Pause || The Lord’s servants are very dear to the Lord; they chant the Word of the Lord’s Bani. The account of the recording angels, Chitr and Gupt, and the account with the Messenger of Death is totally erased. || 2 || The Saints of the Lord meditate on the Lord in their minds; they join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. The piercing sun of desires has set, and the cool moon has risen. || 3 || You are the Greatest Being, absolutely unapproachable and unfathomable; You created the Universe from Your Own Being. O God, take pity on servant Nanak, and make him the slave of the slave of Your slaves. || 4 || 6 ||
