  ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਗਈ ਬਹੋੜੁ ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਦੁਖਦਾਰੀ ॥ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਭਗਤੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਇਹ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂ ਮਾਣੁ ॥ ਨਿਚੀਜਿਆ ਚੀਜ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਜੈਸਾ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਲਖ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਉਗੁਣ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ॥ ਕਹਣੈ ਕਥਨਿ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈਐ ॥ ਅਵਰ ਓਟ ਮੈ ਸਗਲੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਰਹਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ॥ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਚੂਕੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਵਖਦੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੰਤੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੨॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਦਰ-ਜੋਗ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਗਵਾਚੀ ਹੋਈ (ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਦਿਵਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕੈਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਛੁਡਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਢਾਰਸ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰਮ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ 'ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ' ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੋ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਆਪ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਬੱਚਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਗਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਗ਼ਲਤੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਉ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਝਿੜਕਦਾ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਭੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ) ਠੀਕ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਹਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸ (ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ) ਆਖ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। (ਕਰਣੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਲ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧੨।੬੨।

SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:

The Restorer of what was taken away, the Liberator from captivity; the Formless Lord, the Destroyer of pain. I do not know about karma and good deeds; I do not know about Dharma and righteous living. I am so greedy, chasing after Maya. I go by the name of God’s devotee; please, save this honor of Yours. || 1 || O Dear Lord, You are the honor of the dishonored. You make the unworthy ones worthy, O my Lord of the Universe; I am a sacrifice to Your almighty creative power. || Pause || Like the child, innocently making thousands of mistakes — his father teaches him, and scolds him so many times, but still, he hugs him close in his embrace. Please forgive my past actions, God, and place me on Your path for the future. || 2 || The Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, knows all about my state of mind; so who else should I go to and speak to? The Lord, the Lord of the Universe, is not pleased by mere recitation of words; if it is pleasing to His Will, He preserves our honor. I have seen all other shelters, but Yours alone remains for me. || 3 || Becoming kind and compassionate, God the Lord and Master Himself listens to my prayer. ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਹੈ ਥੋਰਾ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਪੇਖੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈਭੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਹਿ ਨ ਮੋਰਾ ॥ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਆਹਿਓ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰਾ ਧੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਚਰਣ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਜੋਰਾ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੬॥

ਅਰਥ:  ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ (ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ।1। ਰਹਾਉ। 

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਭਰਾ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ = ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇਵੇਖ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੀ) ਕੁਝ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।1। 

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ– ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ।2।7। 16।

GUJRI, FIFTH MEHL:

Mother, father, siblings, children and relatives � their power is insignificant. I have seen the many pleasures of Maya, but none goes with them in the end. || 1 || O Lord Master, other than You, no one is mine. I am a worthless orphan, devoid of merit; I long for Your Support. || 1 || Pause || I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to Your lotus feet; here and hereafter, Yours is the only power. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, Nanak has obtained the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; my obligations to all others are annulled. || 2 || 7 || 16 ||

God is lofty, unapproachable and infinite. He is indescribable- He cannot be described. Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God, who is all-powerful to save us. || 1 || CHHANT: Save me, any way You can; O Lord God, I am Yours. My demerits are uncountable; how many of them should I count? The sins and crimes I committed are countless; day by day, I continually make mistakes. I am intoxicated by emotional attachment to Maya, the treacherous one; by Your Grace alone can I be saved. Secretly, I commit hideous sins of corruption, even though God is the nearest of the near. Prays Nanak, shower me with Your Mercy, Lord, and lift me up, out of the whirlpool of the terrifying world-ocean. || 1 || SHALOK: Countless are His virtues; they cannot be enumerated. God’s Name is lofty and exalted. This is Nanak’s humble prayer, to bless the homeless with a home. || 2 || CHHANT: There is no other place at all - where else should I go? Twenty-four hours a day, with my palms pressed together, I meditate on God. Meditating forever on my God, I receive the fruits of my mind’s desires. Renouncing pride, attachment, corruption and duality, I lovingly center my attention on the One Lord. Dedicate your mind and body to God; eradicate all your self-conceit. Prays Nanak, shower me with Your mercy, Lord, that I may be absorbed in Your True Name. || 2 || SHALOK: O mind, meditate on the One, who holds everything in His hands. Gather the wealth of the Lord’s Name; O Nanak, it shall always be with You. || 3 || CHHANT: God is our only True Friend; there is not any other. In the places and interspaces, in the water and on the land, He Himself is pervading everywhere. He is totally permeating the water, the land and the sky; God is the Great Giver, the Lord and Master of all. The Lord of the world, the Lord of the universe has no limit; His Glorious Virtues are unlimited- how can I count them? I have hurried to the Sanctuary of the Lord Master, the Bringer of peace; without Him, there is no other at all. Prays Nanak, that being, unto whom the Lord shows mercy - he alone obtains the Naam. || 3 || SHALOK: Whatever I wish for, that I receive. Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Nanak has found total peace. || 4 || CHHANT: My mind is now emancipated; I have joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. As Gurmukh, I chant the Naam, and my light has merged into the Light. Remembering the Lord’s Name in meditation, my sins have been erased; the fire has been extinguished, and I am satisfied. He has taken me by the arm, and blessed me with His kind mercy; He has accepted me His own. The Lord has hugged me in His embrace, and merged me with Himself; the pains of birth and death have been burnt away. Prays Nanak, He has blessed me with His kind mercy; in an instant, He unites me with Himself. || 4 || 2 ||

  ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੭    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਗਾਵਾ ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਊਚ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਰ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ ਵਿਚੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਅਗਨਿ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਬਕਰੀ ਸਿੰਘੁ ਇਕਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੩॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਮਾਣੁ ਦੇਵਾਏ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਚਰਣ ਤਲੇ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਆਣਿ ਸਭੁ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ। ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਸਹਾਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੱਸ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ? ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਸ ਕੋਲ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੁਖ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਵੇਖ, (ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੈ, ਲੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਗ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸ਼ੇਰ ਤੇ ਬੱਕਰੀ ਇਕੋ ਥਾਂ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਕਰ।੩।

ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਵੇਖੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਾਕਤ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਰਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਰਤੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠੋਂ (ਮੌਤ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਉੱਪਰ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧।੧੨।

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

Which, which of Your Glorious Virtues should I sing and recount, Lord? You are my Lord and Master, the treasure of excellence. I cannot express Your Glorious Praises. You are my Lord and Master, lofty and benevolent. || 1 || The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my only support. If it pleases You, please save me, O my Lord and Master; without You, I have no other at all. || 1 || Pause || You alone are my strength, and my Court, O my Lord and Master; unto You alone I pray. There is no other place where I can offer my prayers; I can tell my pains and pleasures only to You. || 2 || Water is locked up in the earth, and fire is locked up in wood. The sheep and the lions are kept in one place; O mortal, meditate on the Lord, and your doubts and fears shall be removed. || 3 || So behold the glorious greatness of the Lord, O Saints; the Lord blesses the dishonored with honor. As dust rises from underfoot, O Nanak, so does the Lord make all people fall at the feet of the Holy. || 4 || 1 || 12 ||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਭਈ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਵਨਾ ॥ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਾਏ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥ ਹਸਤੀ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੬॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜੀਵਨ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਖਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।

ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵੰਨ ਸੁਵੰਨੇ) ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਹਾਥੀ ਰਥਾਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ (ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ।੩।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।੪।੨।੫੬।

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

I am satisfied and satiated, eating the food of Truth. With my mind, body and tongue, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 1 || Life, spiritual life, is in the Lord. Spiritual life consists of chanting the Lord’s Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. || 1 || Pause || He is dressed in robes of all sorts, if he sings the Kirtan of the Lord’s Glorious Praises, day and night. || 2 || He rides upon elephants, chariots and horses, if he sees the Lord’s Path within his own heart. || 3 || Meditating on the Lord’s Feet, deep within his mind and body, slave Nanak has found the Lord, the treasure of peace. || 4 || 2 || 56 ||

  ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਜਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥ ਮੋਹ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ 

 (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਉੱਕਰਿਆ) ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਕਮਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; (ਉਸ ਲੇਖ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ) ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਠਗਬੂਟੀ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਰੀ ਵਿੱਸਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਮਤੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਇਆਸੁ ॥ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਬਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲਨੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥  (ਉਸ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੋ (ਜੋ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਹਿਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।

ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਘਣਾ ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਨ ਸਾਥਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਸਿ ॥ ਲੋਕਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਸ ॥ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਕੋ ਨ ਵਿਸਹੀ ਚੁਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਵੇਸਾਸੁ ॥ ਉਹ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਏ ਪਏ ਸਨ, ਉਹ) ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਏਗਾ; ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ) ਤੇ ਹਾਹੁਕੇ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਸਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥  ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸੇ ਸੈਣ ਸੇ ਸਜਣਾ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਾ ਨਿਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਹੀ) ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਤੇ (ਸਾਡੇ) ਸਾਥੀ ਹਨ; ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਸਜਣ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਵੇਕਾਰ ॥  ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੀਦਾ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪ ਸੁਆਰਥੀ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਤਲਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਵਾਰ ਸਕਦੇ; (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਕੀਹ ਦੋਸ਼?) (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਕਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਲੇਖ) ਕਮਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਮਿਟਾਉਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ।੧।

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਖੇਡ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ; ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥  (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਜੇ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਲੱਗਿਆਂ) (ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਇਹ) ਸਮਝ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਘੁਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ 

(ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੩।

SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:

He acts according to pre-ordained destiny, written by the Creator Himself. Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord, the treasure of virtue. Don’t think that he is alive in the world — he is dead, through the love of duality. Those who do not meditate on the Lord, as Gurmukh, are not permitted to sit near the Lord. They suffer the most horrible pain and suffering, and neither their sons nor their wives go along with them. Their faces are blackened among men, and they sigh in deep regret. No one places any reliance in the self-willed manmukhs; trust in them is lost. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs live in absolute peace; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within them. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: They alone are relatives, and they alone are friends, who, as Gurmukh, join together in love. Night and day, they act according to the True Guru’s Will; they remain absorbed in the True Name. Those who are attached to the love of duality are not called friends; they practice egotism and corruption. The self-willed manmukhs are selfish; they cannot resolve anyone’s affairs. O Nanak, they act according to their pre-ordained destiny; no one can erase it. || 2 || PAUREE: You Yourself created the world, and You Yourself arranged the play of it. You Yourself created the three qualities, and fostered emotional attachment to Maya. He is called to account for his deeds done in egotism; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. The Guru instructs those whom the Lord Himself blesses with Grace. I am a sacrifice to my Guru; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. || 3||

ਸਲੋਕ ॥ ਰਾਜ ਕਪਟੰ ਰੂਪ ਕਪਟੰ ਧਨ ਕਪਟੰ ਕੁਲ ਗਰਬਤਹ ॥ ਸੰਚੰਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਛਲੰ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਤੇ॥੧॥ ਪੇਖੰਦੜੋ ਕੀ ਭੁਲੁ ਤੁੰਮਾ ਦਿਸਮੁ ਸੋਹਣਾ ॥ ਅਢੁ ਨ ਲਹੰਦੜੋ ਮੁਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜੁਲਈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਸੰਜੀਐ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਜਤਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਵੰਜੀਐ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਿਐ ਕਿਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ਨਾਮਨੁ ਰੰਜੀਐ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਰਕਿ ਸਮੰਜੀਐ ॥ ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਉ ਭੰਜੀਐ ॥੧੦॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਰਾਜ ਰੂਪ ਧਨ ਤੇ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਕੁਲ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ-ਸਭ ਛਲ-ਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ਜੀਵ ਛਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਲਾ ਲਾ ਕੇ(ਕਈ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਾਇਆ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਏਥੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।੨।

ਤੁੰਮਾ ਵੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਦਿੱਸਿਆ। ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਕਾਈ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ? ਇਸ ਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਧੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਭੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਏਥੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।੨।

ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ, ਜੋ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕੀਹ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ? ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆਂ (ਨਿਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ) ਰੱਜੀਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮਨਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ, ਦਇਆ ਕਰ, ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ।੧੦।

SHALOK:

Power is fraudulent, beauty is fraudulent, and wealth is fraudulent, as is pride of ancestry. One may gather poison through deception and fraud, O Nanak, but without the Lord, nothing shall go along with him in the end. || 1 || Beholding the bitter melon, he is deceived, since it appears so pretty. But it is not worth even a shell, O Nanak; the riches of Maya will not go along with anyone. || 2 || PAUREE: It shall not go along with you when you depart — why do you bother to collect it? Tell me, why do you try so hard to acquire that which you must leave behind in the end? Forgetting the Lord, how can you be satisfied? Your mind cannot be pleased. One who forsakes God, and attaches himself to another, shall be immersed in hell. Be kind and compassionate to Nanak, O Lord, and dispel his fear. || 10 ||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਭਈ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਵਨਾ॥ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਾਏ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥ਹਸਤੀ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੬॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜੀਵਨ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਖਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।

ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵੰਨਸੁਵੰਨੇ) ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਹਾਥੀ ਰਥਾਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ (ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ।੩।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾਸਨੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।੪।੨।੫੬।

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

I am satisfied and satiated, eating the food of Truth. With my mind, body and tongue, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 1 || Life, spiritual life, is in the Lord. Spiritual life consists of chanting the Lord’s Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. || 1 || Pause || He is dressed in robes of all sorts, if he sings the Kirtan of the Lord’s Glorious Praises, day and night. || 2 || He rides upon elephants, chariots and horses, if he sees the Lord’s Path within his own heart. || 3 || Meditating on the Lord’s Feet, deep within his mind and body, slave Nanak has found the Lord, the treasure of peace. || 4 || 2 || 56 ||

ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਚਉਪਦੇ ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥਾ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਉਤਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਰਿਨੁ ਲਾਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭਿ ਅਰਥਾ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਾਥਾ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਥਾ ॥੨॥ ਜਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਨਾਥਾ ॥ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥਾ ॥੩॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਗਿਆਨਹੀਨ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਿਉ ਚਾਲਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੰਥਾ ॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਚਲੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਲਹ ਮਿਲੰਥਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ) । (ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੋਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅੰਨਿ੍ਹਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਸਕੀਏ।੪।੧।

JAITSREE, FOURTH MEHL, FIRST HOUSE, CHAU-PADAS:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

The Jewel of the Lord’s Name abides within my heart; the Guru has placed His hand on my forehead. The sins and pains of countless incarnations have been cast out. The Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and my debt has been paid off. || 1 || O my mind, vibrate the Lord’s Name, and all your affairs shall be resolved. The Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord’s Name within me; without the Name, life is useless. || Pause || Without the Guru, the self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant; they are forever entangled in emotional attachment to Maya. They never serve the feet of the Holy; their lives are totally useless. || 2 || Those who serve at the feet of the Holy, the feet of the Holy, their lives are made fruitful, and they belong to the Lord. Make me the slave of the slave of the slaves of the Lord; bless me with Your Mercy, O Lord of the Universe. || 3 || I am blind, ignorant and totally without wisdom; how can I walk on the Path? I am blind — O Guru, please let me grasp the hem of Your robe, so that servant Nanak may walk in harmony with You. || 4 || 1 ॥

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਰੇ ਜਨ ਉਥਾਰੈ ਦਬਿਓਹੁ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਗਈ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਨ ਜਾਗਿਓ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਚਾਉ ॥

ਅਰਥ: (ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ) ਉਥਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਦੱਬੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ) ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਲਉ ਗੁਣ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ ਜਗਤੁ ਜਲੰਦਾ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ) ਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ; (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਚਲੈ ਤਾ ਬਨਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪੀ) ਨਾਰੀ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਨਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਸਮਝੋ।

ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੨॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ) ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ।੨।

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪਾਪਿਸਟ ਹਤਿਆਰੀ ॥ ਓਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਉ ਧਰਕਟ ਨਾਰੀ ॥

ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਭੈੜੇ ਹਨ, ਰੱਬ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ! ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੋ, ਉਹ ਬੜੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੇ ਹੱਤਿਆਰੇ ਹਨ; ਮਨੋਂ ਖੋਟੇ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਵਿਭਚਾਰਨ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿਵਾਜੀ ਹੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ, ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ।੨੩।

SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:

O man, you have been tormented by a nightmare, and you have passed your life in sleep. You did not wake to hear the Word of the True Guru’s Shabad; you have no inspiration within yourself. That body burns, which has no virtue, and which does not serve the Guru. I have seen that the world is burning, in egotism and the love of duality. O Nanak, those who seek the Guru’s Sanctuary are saved; within their minds, they meditate on the True Word of the Shabad. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, the soul-bride is rid of egotism, and she is glorified. If she walks steadily in the way of His Will, then she is adorned with decorations. Her couch becomes beautiful, and she constantly enjoys her Husband Lord; she obtains the Lord as her Husband. The Lord does not die, and she never suffers pain; she is a happy soul-bride forever. O Nanak, the Lord God unites her with Himself; she enshrines love and affection for the Guru. || 2 || PAUREE: Those who conceal and deny their Guru, are the most evil people. O Dear Lord, let me not even see them; they are the worst sinners and murderers. They wander from house to house, with impure minds, like wicked, forsaken women. But by great good fortune, they may meet the Company of the Holy; as Gurmukhs, they are reformed. O Lord, please be kind and let me meet the True Guru; I am a sacrifice to the Guru. || 23 ||,
