ਸਲੋਕ ॥ ਮਨ ਇਛਾ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਣੰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥ ਖੰਡਣੰ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਦੂਰਣਹ ॥੧॥ ਹਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੈ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਈਐ ਨੇਹੁ ॥ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਬਿੰਦ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਰਚਿਆ ਦੇਹੁ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਦੀਨੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਦੀਏ ਰਚਿ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਨ ਜੋਗ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਵਿਜੋਗ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਹੁ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ॥੩॥

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਪਾਨੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸਉ ਸੰਤ ਆਗੈ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈ ॥ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥ ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਛੂਟੈ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥ ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪੁ ਰਵਿਓ ਸਭ ਮਧੇ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਰਾਜ ਪਾਏ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੩॥ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਬੁਝੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਾਣੀ (ਢੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੱਖਾ (ਝੱਲਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਟਾ) ਪੀਂਹਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਾਂ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸੇਂ।੨।
ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜ-ਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਲਏ ਹਨ।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਉਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਾਣੋ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧੦।
DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:
I carry the water, wave the fan, and grind the corn for the Saints; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. With each and every breath, my mind remembers the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in this way, it finds the treasure of peace. || 1 || Have pity on me, O my Lord and Master. Bless me with such understanding, O my Lord and Master, that I may forever and ever meditate on You. || 1 || Pause || By Your Grace, emotional attachment and egotism are eradicated, and doubt is dispelled. The Lord, the embodiment of bliss, is pervading and permeating in all; wherever I go, there I see Him. || 2 || You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the Purifier of sinners, Lord of the world. I obtain millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms, if You inspire me to chant Your Name with my mouth, even for an instant. || 3 || That alone is perfect chanting, meditation, penance and devotional worship service, which is pleasing to God’s Mind. Chanting the Naam, all thirst and desire is satisfied; Nanak is satisfied and fulfilled. || 4 || 10 ||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਖੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਬਾਜੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਸੁਣੇ ॥ ਪਤੁ ਝੋਲੀ ਮੰਗਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੜੇ ॥੧॥ ਬਾਬਾ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਸੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੋਇ ਉਠਾਲੀ ਕਰਤੇ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ਪਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਵਣਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਏ ॥ ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਏਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਸਰੇ ॥੨॥ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਅਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਪੀਰ ਪੁਰਸ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥ ਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਾ ਤ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਆਖਾ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਲੂਣੁ ਰਹੈ ਘ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਮਲੁ ਰਹੈ ॥ ਐਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੪॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਗੋਰਖ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੋਰਖ (ਸਦਾ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ) ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੋਰਖ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਵੇਖਣਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ) ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਯੋਗ ਪਾਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਣਾ ਮੈਂ (ਮੋਢੇ ਉਤੇ) ਝੋਲੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ।੧।

(ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਉਣ (ਆਦਿਕ ਤੱਤਾਂ) ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਦੀਵੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਧਰਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਇਤਨੇ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੰਗਮ ਜੋਗੀ ਪੀਰ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ (ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ।੩।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੂਣ ਘਿਉ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਘਿਉ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਕੁਮਲਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।੪।੪।

RAAMKALEE, FIRST MEHL:

Awareness of the Shabad and the Teachings is my horn; the people hear the sound of its vibrations. Honor is my begging-bowl, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the charity I receive. || 1 || O Baba, Gorakh is the Lord of the Universe; He is always awake and aware. He alone is Gorakh, who sustains the earth; He created it in an instant. || 1 || Pause || Binding together water and air, He infused the breath of life into the body, and made the lamps of the sun and the moon. To die and to live, He gave us the earth, but we have forgotten these blessings. || 2 || There are so many Siddhas, seekers, Yogis, wandering pilgrims, spiritual teachers and good people. If I meet them, I chant the Lord’s Praises, and then, my mind serves Him. || 3 || Paper and salt, protected by ghee, remain untouched by water, as the lotus remains unaffected in water. Those who meet with such devotees, O servant Nanak — what can death do to them? || 4 || 4 ||

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਲਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ ੧॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਧਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤ ਜਮੁ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਲਾਇਣ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਭਾਨੇ ਡਾਇਣ ॥੨॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕੀਨੇ ਸੂਖ ਅਨੰਦ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੰਤ ਕੋ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੩॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਗਾਇਣ ॥ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਹੀ ॥ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਗਹੀ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੧੯॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਿੰਜ । (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ) ਦਾ ਹੀ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੈ। ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ । ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ, ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਜਮ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਪਰੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ) ਡੈਣ ਦੇ ਦੰਦ ਭੰਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣਾ) ਤੇਜ-ਪਰਤਾਪ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ (ਵਾਂਗ ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ ।੩। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਉਹ ਮਿਲਾਪ-ਰੂਪ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਚੀਜ਼ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਇੰਦਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।੧੭।੧੯।

The Name of the Immaculate Lord is the Ambrosial Water. Chanting it with the tongue, sins are washed away. || 1 || Pause || The Lord abides in everyone. The Lord illumines each and every heart. Chanting the Lords Name, one does not fall into hell. Serving the Lord, all fruitful rewards are obtained. || 1 || Within my mind is the Support of the Lord. The Lord is the boat to cross over the world-ocean. Chant the Lords Name, and the Messenger of Death will run away. The Lord breaks the teeth of Maya, the witch. || 2 || The Lord is forever and ever the Forgiver. The Lord blesses us with peace and bliss. The Lord has revealed His glory. The Lord is the mother and father of His Saint. || 3 || The Lord, the Lord, is in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Time and time again, I sing the Lords Praises. Meeting with the Guru, I have attained the incomprehensible object. Slave Nanak has grasped the Support of the Lord. || 4 || 17 || 19 ||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਐਸੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਭੂਲਿ ਪਰੇ ॥ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਕਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪੇਖਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਾਚ ਬਿਹਾਝਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਛਾਡਨ ਬੈਰੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤੁ ਸਾਜਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਖਰੇ ॥ ਹੋਵਨੁ ਕਉਰਾ ਅਨਹੋਵਨੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਜਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪਰਾਨੀ ਭਰਮ ਗੁਬਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰੇ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਤ ਦਇਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਕਾਢੈ ਬਾਹ ਫਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੯੬॥ 

Bilawal Fifth Mehal 

Why do you wander in delusion like this? You act, and incite others to act, and then deny it. The Lord is always with you; He sees and hears everything. || 1 || Pause || You purchase glass, and discard gold; you are in love with your enemy, while you renounce your true friend. That which exists, seems bitter; that which does not exist, seems sweet to you. Engrossed in corruption, you are burning away. || 1 || The mortal has fallen into the deep, dark pit, and is entangled in the darkness of doubt, and the bondage of emotional attachment. Says Nanak, when God becomes merciful, one meets with the Guru, who takes him by the arm, and lifts him out. || 2 || 10 || 96 ||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ 

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀਵ) ਕਿਉਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਜੀਵ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ) ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਾਂਦੇ ਭੀ ਹਨ, (ਫਿਰ) ਮੁੱਕਰ ਭੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਅਸਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ) । ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ) ਵੇਖਦਾਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੱਚ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ, ਸੋਨਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਣਾ, ਸੱਚੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ (ਇਹ ਹਨਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ) । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਕੌੜਾ ਲੱਗਣਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਣਾ (ਇਹ ਹੈ ਨਿੱਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਜੀਵਾਂਦਾ । ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੱਝਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ (ਹਨੇਰੇ) ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਏਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਜਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਇਸਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੦।੯੬।

ਬਿਹਾਗੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਖੋਜਤ ਸੰਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਤਾਣੁ ਤਨੁ ਖੀਨ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਿਲਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਇਆ ਧਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਲੀਜੀਐ ॥ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਜਪਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸ ਪੇਖੇ ਜੀਜੀਐ ॥ ਸਮਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥

ਜਪ ਤਪ ਬਰਤ ਕੀਨੇ ਪੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਚਰਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਤਪਤਿ ਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਾਟਿ ਬੇਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਾਰੀਐ ॥ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਉਗਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ॥ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਮਾਗੈ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣਾ ॥੨॥

ਅਮਿਅ ਸਰੋਵਰੋ ਪੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਦੀਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਬੀਸਰੈ ॥ ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਜਗਦੀਸਰੈ ॥ ਅਗਣਤ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਧਾਮਾ ॥ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਛ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗ ਰਾਮਾ ॥੩॥

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿਕ ਜਗ ਫਲਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੋਹੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਤ ਗਨਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਿਤਵੰਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਦ ਮਨਾ ॥ ਸੁਭ ਦਿਵਸ ਆਏ ਗਹਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਫਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥

BIHAAGRAA, FIFTH MEHL:

The Saints go around, searching for God, the support of their breath of life. They lose the strength of their bodies, if they do not merge with their Beloved Lord. O God, my Beloved, merge with me — bless me with Your kindness; be kind, and attach me to the hem of Your robe. Bless me with Your Name, that I may chant it, O Lord and Master; beholding the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, I live. He is almighty, perfect, eternal and unchanging, exalted, unapproachable and infinite. Prays Nanak, grant Your Grace, O Beloved of my breath of life, that I may merge with You. || 1 || I have practiced chanting, intensive meditation and fasting to see Your Feet, Lord. But still, the burning fire is not quenched, without the Sanctuary of the Lord and Master. O God, I seek Your Sanctuary — please, cut away my bonds and carry me across the world-ocean. I am helpless, forlorn and worthless — I know nothing at all; please do not count up my merits and demerits. The Lord is Merciful to the meek, the Sustainer of the world, Beloved, Almighty Cause of causes. Nanak, the song-bird, begs for the rain-drop of the Lord’s Name; meditating on the Feet of the Lord, Har, Har, he lives. || 2 || Drink in the Ambrosial Nectar from the sacred pool, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. In the Society of the Saints, one meets the Lord; meditating on Him, one’s affairs are resolved. God accomplishes everything; He is the Destroyer of pain. Never forget Him from your mind, even for an instant. He is blissful, night and day; He is forever True. All Glories are contained in the Lord in the Universe. Incalculable, lofty and infinite is the Lord and Master. His dwelling is unapproachable. Prays Nanak, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the Lord, the Greatest Lover. || 3 || The fruits of many millions of charitable feasts come to those who listen to and sing the Lord’s Praise. Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, all one’s generations are carried across. Chanting the Name of the Lord, the mortal being is beautified; what Praises of His can I chant? I shall never forget the Lord; He is as dear as my breath of life. My mind constantly yearns for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. Auspicious is that day, when God, the lofty, inaccessible and infinite, hugs me close in His embrace. Prays Nanak, everything is fruitful — I have met my supremely beloved Lord God. || 4 || 3 || 6 ||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਪਰਥਾਇ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸਾਝੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨੈ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਭਉ ਕਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਥਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੈ ॥੧॥ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਇਓ ਅੰਤਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਹੁਤਾ ਆਇ ॥ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਅੰਧਿਆਂ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਬਰਕਤੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਖਾਇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ਪੰਡਿਤ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ ਕੂਕ ਪੂਕਾਰ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾ ਸੰਸਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਈ ॥ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਸੇ ਮਿਤੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੨॥ਅਰਥ: ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਲਈ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਡਰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਦਾਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।੧।SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋੜਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਅੰਨਿ੍ਹਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਿਲਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਾਹ ਪੁੱਛਾਂ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ (ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ) ਦੱਸੇ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਿਆਲੀ ਪਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਸਿਮਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਲਵਾਂ।ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।੧੨।Great men speak the teachings by relating them to individual situations, but the whole world shares in them. One who becomes Gurmukh knows the Fear of God, and realizes his own self. If, by Guru’s Grace, one remains dead while yet alive, the mind becomes content in itself. Those who have no faith in their own minds, O Nanak — how can they speak of spiritual wisdom? || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Those who do not focus their consciousness on the Lord, as Gurmukh, suffer pain and grief in the end. They are blind, inwardly and outwardly, and they do not understand anything. O Pandit, O religious scholar, the whole world is fed for the sake of those who are attuned to the Lord’s Name. Those who praise the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, remain blended with the Lord. O Pandit, O religious scholar, no one is satisfied, and no one finds true wealth through the love of duality. They have grown weary of reading scriptures, but still, they do not find contentment, and they pass their lives burning, night and day. Their cries and complaints never end, and doubt does not depart from within them. O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they rise up and depart with blackened faces. || 2 || PAUREE: O Beloved, lead me to meet my True Friend; meeting with Him, I shall ask Him to show me the Path. I am a sacrifice to that Friend, who shows it to me. I share His Virtues with Him, and meditate on the Lord’s Name. I serve my Beloved Lord forever; serving the Lord, I have found peace. I am a sacrifice to the True Guru, who has imparted this understanding to me. || 12 ||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਮਾਂਝ ॥ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਥਾਉ ॥ ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥ ਓਟ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ॥੨॥ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਨਠੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥ ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੩॥ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਦਯੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥ 

ਚੋਣਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਸੁਣਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਰੂਹਾ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੈ

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਮਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਹਾਇਆ ॥ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੂਆ ਮਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਜਨ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਤਿਨੑ ਹਮ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵਹ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਗ ਧੋਵਹ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗਾ ਰਤੀ ਚਾਰੇ ॥ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਰੁ ਉਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥ ਸਭ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਮਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਜਨ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਿਆ ਬੀਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਆ ਸੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ ਨਾਮੋ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਮੋਹ ਚੀਕੜਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਨਿਘਰਤ ਹਮ ਜਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਂਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਕਰਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਬਾਂਹ ਪਕਰਾਈ ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੨॥

One whose mind is pleased with the Kirtan of the Lords Praises, attains the supreme status; the Lord seems so sweet to her mind and body. She obtains the sublime essence of the Lord, Har, Har; through the Gurus Teachings, she meditates on the Lord, and the destiny written on her forehead is fulfilled. By that high destiny written on her forehead, she chants the Name of the Lord, her Husband, and through the Name of the Lord, she sings the Lords Glorious Praises. the jewel of immense love sparkles on her forehead, and she is adorned with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Her light blends with the Supreme Light, and she obtains God; meeting the True Guru, her mind is satisfied. One whose mind is pleased with the Kirtan of the Lords Praises, attains the supreme status; the Lord seems sweet to her mind and body. || 1 || Those who sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, obtain the supreme status; they are the most exalted and acclaimed people. I bow at their feet; each and every moment, I wash the feet of those, unto whom the Lord seems sweet. The Lord seems sweet to them, and they obtain the supreme status; their faces are radiant and beautiful with good fortune. Under Gurus Instruction, they sing the Lords Name, and wear the garland of the Lords Name around their necks; they keep the Lords Name in their throats. They look upon all with equality, and recognize the Supreme Soul, the Lord, pervading among all. Those who sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, obtain the supreme status; they are the most exalted and acclaimed people. || 2 || One whose mind is pleased with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, savors the sublime essence of the Lord; in the Sangat, is this essence of the Lord. He meditates in adoration upon the Lord, Har, Har, and through the Word of the Gurus Shabad, he blossoms forth. He plants no other seed. There is no Nectar, other than the Lords Ambrosial Nectar. One who drinks it in, knows the way. Hail, hail to the Perfect Guru; through Him, God is found. Joining the Sangat, the Naam is understood. I serve the Naam, and I meditate on the Naam. Without the Naam, there is no other at all. One whose mind is pleased with the Sat Sangat, savors the sublime essence of the Lord; in the Sangat, is this essence of the Lord. || 3 || O Lord God, shower Your Mercy upon me; I am just a stone. Please, carry me across, and lift me up with ease, through the Word of the Shabad. I am stuck in the swamp of emotional attachment, and I am sinking. O Lord God, please, take me by the arm. God took me by the arm, and I obtained the highest understanding; as His slave, I grasped the Gurus feet.

ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਉਪਜੇ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਹਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਣਾ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਅੰਧਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਝਗਰਾ ਦੁਹੁ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਿਆ ਹੇਰੈ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਧੁਨਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਝਗਰੁ ਨਿਬੇਰੈ ॥੩॥ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਨਾਥ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲ। ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।1। ਰਹਾਉ। 

(ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਥਾ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਰਚੇ ਹੋਏ) ਵੇਦ (ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕ) ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਗਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਸੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਿੱਤ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਦੀ ਧੁੰਨੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੌਲ ਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਜੰਮਿਆ (ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਨਮ-ਦਾਤੇ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਲ ਪਿਆ, ਕਈ ਜੁਗ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ) ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਿਆ।1। 

ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਤਨਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ ਨਿਕੇ ਜਿਹੇ) ਦੀਵੇ (ਹੀ) ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ (ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੇ) ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ।2। 

ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜੋਗੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਦਮ ਦੀ ਟੇਕ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ) ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਟੇਕ ਰੱਖੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰ-ਵੱਸਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ। (ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਝਗੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ-ਰੂਪ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।3। 

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ =) ਹੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਹੇ ਜੂਨ-ਰਹਿਤ! ਤੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਮਹਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਮਿਲੇ। ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੇੜਾ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ।4।2।

O beloved, support of my life! Don't forget me. You are the one whose devotion is always worshiped by the great ancestors, who is worshiped by the wisdom given by the Rishi Muni Guru. Always remember.1. Stay.

(There is a story in the Puranas that the Vedas were composed by Brahma (the learned people) in a sweet tone from the mouth to the throat. Read daily, that Brahma was born from the cowl growing from the breath of Vishnu (on his birth-father To find the end of nature, I went with him, kept coming and going in darkness with him for many ages, but he Couldn't find the end of.1.

That Lord is so big that the sun and the moon are like lamps in his glorious world, all His light is widespread in the world. If a person follows the path shown by his Guru and attains it day and night, he becomes one with a pure life. The man who follows his mind spends the night of his life in the darkness (of ignorance).2.

Great yogis (relying on their own efforts) bring about samadhi and try to conquer the mind (but If a person focuses only on his own efforts, that inner light cannot be seen by his eyes. (The person who faces the Guru) the Guru stops the conflict in his mind, the Guru's presence within him Sweet devotion is felt in the form of words, the light of God awakens within it.3.

Hey Nanak! (Pray =) O destroyer of gods and humans! O infinite! O June-free! And the immense Lord who resides in the stable palace! O life of the world! (Please grant me) may I reside in steadfastness. Cross my boat with an eye of mercy. 4.
