On October 12, 2023, I gave this fast-moving and immersive keynote at the Innovation Day of the International Training Center of the ILO (International Labor Organisation, a UN organisation) in Turin, Italy.

The event explored AI’s impact on human resources and learning development.

Some of my key messages in this speech are:

- The next 10 years will bring more change than the previous 100 years. We'll see 6 King-Makers: AI, quantum computing, nuclear fusion, synthetic biology, genome editing and geo-engineering.

- Technology can be heaven or hell - it's our job to make sure it's mostly heaven #digitalethics - and this is crucial when we talk about AI!

- Imagine if the social media disaster is further amplified by perfect disinformation and fake news that generative AI excels?

- We will have all the tools (science and technology) - but will we have the Telos?

- If we roll out AI and AGI just to fuel more profit and growth, things will not end well for us-

- Embrace the 3 revolutions: The Digital (info tech, biotech, energy / climate tech, and AI tech), the Sustainability, and the Purpose Revolution.

Beyond an era full of changes, we are living through a change of era. Faced with a context that advances very quickly and that forces us to create agile teams to be more competitive, in the framework of Cluster Day 2023, I explained the characteristics which leaders must have today.

I presented a riveting talk on the future of technology, artificial intelligence, jobs, work, and education. In this talk, I outlines why too much of a good thing (such as exponential technologies) can be a very bad thing, and ask the key question: Who will be Mission Control for humanity? How do we make sure that all technology results in collective human flourishing?

In the film, Gerd sets forth that we should embrace Artificial Intelligence and harness its positive potentials while at the same time we must urgently consider and address its negative side-effects and unintended externalities. We must use AI as a powerful tool but not let it become a purpose on its own. AI should be used to help us to bring about what Gerd calls #thegoodfuture, not to replace humans, or to whittle away what makes us human, or to enable a synthetic, machine-led society.

LuN explains why we should welcome smart machines but not seek to build generally intelligent artificial entities (AGIs) – because with digital intelligences, it’s competence that matters, not consciousness (quoting Professor Stuart Russell).
