In episode 94 of How To Matter, I explore the myth of a balanced life. The notion is to develop a balance among the various areas or elements of our life; and once we find the correct or best balance, we should maintain that balance. I doubt if that is possible; and even if it were, life has a way of not cooperating with our grand plan. Things happen, things come up, life makes non-negotiable demands. The balance, if we actually achieve it, goes down the tube. No, a balanced life is a myth perpetuated by people who don't live in our world. The best we can do is to integrate the important elements of our lives and then thoughtfully manage everything as best we can. It won't be balanced but we can over time be sure each life priority gets its due.
