Zuri was determined to investigate every possible avenue to uncover which faction of her family had placed a target on her child’s back. Regardless of the outcome, she was resolute in her decision to raise Minkah, instilling in him a blend of motherly wisdom, common sense, and trust. She was acutely aware that the issue of trust would be a challenging one to address.

She also recognized that growing up in Mississippi would pose its unique set of difficulties for her son. Her burdens were already substantial, with the assassination of her father Ike, and prominent leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Medgar Evers weighing heavily on her mind. The safety of her son was an additional concern that she now had to bear.

In the midst of these challenges, she found solace in prayer, hoping that Aunt Ebele would provide the guidance she so desperately sought.
