We continue exploring the theme of the Kingdom of God as it develops in the story of the Bible. In 1 Samuel 17, we get a glimpse of the type of king that God's people need to defend them and lead them in God's way. 

The kingdom of God is a reality of existence that has always been present. At first, the kingdom of God existed in perfection. But it didn’t take long for the kingdom to be fractured. Today, we have experienced a partial return of the kingdom of God, but still wait and look for the complete return of God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

As Paul addressed the church in Rome concerning their relation to the governing authorities, we dive through the text to see how this applies in our context.

What does living life as a Living Sacrifice actually look like?

In response to the love of God for us, we are called to genuinely love others. But what does that actually look like?

As a new creation in Christ, one who is fully surrendered to God in all of life, being transformed by the renewing of our mind, one way we live now is with right thinking of self before God, and right thinking of self with one another.

Being a Living Sacrifice for God is not just because of what Jesus has done for us. Wholistically, it is because of what God will do through us!

The kindness of God is that He takes our mistakes, what the enemy means for evil, and leverages it for good. Israel’s rejection of God is one of those events the enemy meant for evil, but God turned around and used for good. For our good. For their good. For the good of the world.

God promised to keep and preserve Israel throughout history for the purpose of His story of salvation. But has He given up? Has He rejected them? No. Even when it seems lost, God is keeping His promise.
