Fitting in can be a challenge for multicultural people in Australia. But if you are LGBTIQ and multicultural, a whole new complexity develops about where and how you fit in to Australian society. This intersectionality of culture diversity and sexual orientation or gender diversity is full of hidden hurdles.
The Melbourne-based Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council has delved into the personal stories of racism and other forms of discrimination. Their report, titled – Navigating Intersectionalities: Multicultural and Multi-Faith Victorians Talk About Discrimination and Affirmation – bring to light some uncomfortable truths. Joining us in the studio tonight are the report co-researchers – Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli and Budi Sudarto from the Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council.
