AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL VIDEO FILM FESTIVAL

THANKS TO LEAGUE TEES

Shannon Gill from The Greatest Season That Was 1993 podcast turns the clock back 10 years prior and joins host Dylan Leach for a review of That Was The Season That Was 1983.

While Gilly is not a Hawthorn supporter, it’s the montage set to Eye of The Tiger and the off-field events such as the Silvio Foschini transfer case, the sackings of Mark “Jacko” Jackson and Rene Kink with cameos from a young Bruce McAvaney in Adelaide.

Along with a masterclass in television presenting from Peter Landy, That Was The Season That Was 1983 is a masterpiece of the cinema and is celebrated at the Australian Football Video Film Festival.

Comedian, one-time banner writer and Bulldogs tragic Danny McGinlay joins Dylan Leach for a comprehensive review of Diamond Dogs - Footscray’s 1992 season.

Two years after almost folding, Footscray are the team to beat in the AFL with the likes of Doug Hawkins, Brownlow medalist Scott Wynd, Chris Grant, Rohan Smith, Simon Atkins and of course a man by the name of Danny Del-Re giving the Bulldogs faithful something to believe in once again.

The season highlights video Diamond Dogs is a two-hour feature-length epic featuring a select amount of Footscray highlights and a recap from Dougie Hawkins after each game.

Let this edition of the Australian Football Video film festival take you back to a time when Footscray was Footscray, playing at the Western Oval and going deep into September.

Australian Football Video Film Festival - Episode 2

Journalist, Broadcaster, MC and one-time tribunal reporter Megan Hustwaite joins Dylan Leach to review the controversial 2001 film BIFFS, BUMPS and BRAWLERS with Rex Hunt.

In this episode, we learn that Channel 7 made it out of spite when going through a divorce with the AFL, dig-deep into Rex Hunt's introductions to the segments, find out that it was written about in The New York Times and ask the question who is the boy and why have you got take him off?

While it was marketed as "The video the AFL didn't want you to see" turns out it was only PG-Rated.

Geelong tragic Rudi Edsall from Triple M Footy's digital team joins host Dylan Leach to discuss the 1993 blockbuster smash Ablett: One Special Season.

The video which highlights Garry Snr's move up forward, kicking the tonne for the first time, Geelong becoming the greatest team to never make the finals, gives interviewer Sandy Roberts absolutely nothing and somehow ends up with Gazza umpiring the Nauru Football League Grand Final.

Rudi and Dylan dig deep into One Special Season and find out that like all great films - there were script problems from day one.
