In Episode 1 of this series, we will focus on letting go of self-limiting beliefs.
What are the things you tell yourself that either knowingly or unknowingly damage your spirit? Do you tell yourself you’re not good enough? Do you compare yourself to others? Do you use self-deprecating humor? Do you tell yourself you’re stupid, lazy, or hopeless?
Whether or not you are using humor, whether or not you mean it, whether or not you believe it… Your spirit doesn’t know the difference. Your spirit can’t distinguish if these words are coming from an external source or your internal voice. If you repeat these harsh words to yourself enough times, your spirit will start to believe them.
These self-limiting beliefs manifest themselves and invade your actions.
If you tell yourself you’re stupid, perhaps you won’t try as hard to learn a new skill. If you believe yourself to be lazy, perhaps you won’t try to get out of bed or off the couch. If you tell yourself you’re hopeless, perhaps you won’t try at anything at all.
What if you instead told yourself:
I believe in myself. I am smart. I am filled with motivation. I am productive. I can do anything I set my mind to. I am a good person. I am beautiful. I am loved.
From this moment forward, choose kindness and compassion. Be honest with yourself but always remain kind to yourself. It’s ok to have limitations but believe yourself to be intelligent, motivated, and capable of change.
You are smart. You are filled with motivation. You are productive. You can do anything you set your mind to. You are a good person. You are beautiful. You are loved.
Now imagine yourself as a child. Growing, playing, learning. That child needs encouragement, compassion, and forgiveness. That child needs kindness. That child is not so different now. Your spirit is that child.
Nurture the child that remains at your core. Nurture your curiosity, your desire to learn, your desire to grow. Nurture your desire to love and be loved. Nurture yourself with kind words.
You are smart. You are filled with motivation. You are productive. You can do anything you set your mind to. You are a good person. You are beautiful. You are loved.
