This is the first part of our interview with Elizabeth Peterson, an arts integration specialist with degrees in Arts, Leadership and Learning and the host of ⁠theinspiredclassroom.com⁠. Elizabeth believes that when caring, creative teachers feel empowered in their classroom, they make a difference in their students’ lives every day.

She is in her 24th year of teaching and 16th year of hosting workshops, retreats and online courses in arts integration and SEAL.

In this episode, Aubrey Schmalle, a pediatric occupational therapist, talks about how technology hugely affect children with sensory issues and what are some helpful tips to minimize technology exposure.

Aubrey Schmalle is currently working to find ways to expand her message beyond the world of occupational therapy and make 'Body Activated Learning' a mindset for parents and education raising children in a digital world who need different habits and routines to be successful.

Aubrey’s mission is to empower adults to be able to better support neurologically diverse children both in schools and in the community in a truly inclusive way by building the habits of success based in sensory supportive movement with the needs of a digital generation in mind.

Aubrey specializes in evaluation and treatment of sensory processing disorders, especially as they relate to education, learning, attention, and self-regulation.  In addition to being a treating therapist, she is an independent educational evaluator, serving children in districts across the state of CT, collaborating with their school teams to optimize programming and support for complex cases. 

She is a Level 3 Tomatis Consultant, implementing The Tomatis Method for people with self regulation and auditory deficits. She is also part of the network of therapy professionals working to support people with Misophonia.
