Dr. Mary Joann Lang is joined by Dr. Dan E. Burns, father of a 25-year-old son on the autism spectrum, author of Saving Ben: A Father’s Story of Autism, contributing editor to Age of Autism, and adult issues liaison for AutismOne. Dr. Burns facilitates planning, vocational programming, and funding for An Independent Me (AIM Ranch), a charity in the Austin, Texas, area for teens and young adults on the autism spectrum. He is focused on empowering parents to organize communities where their adult ASD children and friends can live, work, play, and evolve. His goal is to create a model community that is self-originating, self-sustaining, and self-discovering. Dr. Lang and Dr. Burns will look at adult community models in this interesting discussion.
