Auto Correct: Going Green

Listen Later

Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day, Auto Correct is going to talk about Green vehicles – not kelly, forest, mint, or lime but ecofriendly vehicles that produce less harmful impacts to the environment than comparable conventional internal combustion engines. And we’ll answer your repair questions.

Recalls:

  • Dodge Durangos, Ram HD Trucks Recalled for Indicator Light. Affected vehicles include model-year 2019-22 Ram 2500 pickups, model-year 2019-22 Ram 3500 chassis cabs with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 10,000 pounds, and model-year 2021-22 Dodge Durango SUVs. The antilock brake system control-module software may prevent the electronic stability control malfunction-indicator light from illuminating in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash. To fix the issue, dealers will update the ABS control module software for free. Dodge and Ram parent Stellantis will begin notifying owners April 29, but those with additional questions can call the automaker at 800-853-1403.
  • Ford Recalls 2021 F-150 for Defective Windshield Wipers. The affected model-year 2021 F-150s have a front windshield wiper motor that may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail. Windshield wipers that won’t work can reduce visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the front windshield wiper motor for free, and Ford will begin notifying owners April 18. For further questions, call Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 22S12), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236

You can find out if your car has a past recall by going to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls and inputting your VIN number. Or find their SaferCar app.
