As a car enthusiast I've wondered about this for a few years and even taking the time to call my manufacturer only be told nothing with regards to what they collect, how they collect it and view it and or who owns it. Americans generally don't care about privacy as you can tell with our lack of cell phone data privacy laws so I doubt they'll care about their car tracking them either until the insurance company denies a claim because of the data that they acquired without your knowledge and brought before a court. More people should be concerned about this.
Don't forget we can look to Europe for privacy laws and see what they do there cuz I assure you this is not allowed in the EU. Great topic!
