"Winter Song" at times sounds like an instrumental that might have been made by #BrianFerry or #RoxyMusic with it's swirling, sultry harmonizing saxophone lines that phase in, around, and above each other. It's as if they are lovers in a dance, very dream-like, with an intoxicating, driving tom-drum beat behind them. Chill, but also, intensely passionate.

To all the people out there that comment, "They just don't make real music anymore," I want you to know that we are, you just don't see us on the awards shows! It doesn't mean it's no good, it's just not the trend. I don't auto-tune, I don't rap, I love harmony, a good melody, rich instrumentation, and a sexy sax riff or two! More than a title for the song, "Breaking Away" aptly describes Ava Lemert's new direction for her music making. In this song, she flexes her vocal, and production chops, "Breaking Away" from the misconception that she is simply a "jazz saxophonist." Ava also recorded, mixed, and mastered the song herself in her Citrus Heights studio, My Blue Heaven.

"Breaking Away" is a rather obscure song from 1981 by the band, Balance. Ava's version of the energetic, 80s rocker, has a bit faster tempo, great for exercising to, and six vocal harmonies, all sung by Ava herself! This is a new arrangement of a dusty gem from the days of leg warmers, and Miami Vice. It's both nostalgic, and refreshing with the "realness" of the soaring, powerful vocals by Ava Lemert.

Bouncy, funky, and catchy. Ava shows off her alto and tenor saxophone chops on this peppy instrumental groove. Featured on this track is the phased, funky clavinet by Wil Blades ( https://soundcloud.com/wil-blades ), an internationally-acclaimed master of the B-3 organ. The hook, with the 70’s throwback string hits, and four-part saxophone riff will stick with you and get your toes tapping along. “Jubilee” celebrates the 100th year of Selmer Saxophones, Ava’s beloved horns of choice. It might remind one of the great instrumentals from George Benson, or Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra.

NEW MIX! And since I added more sax parts, it's the "Very Hornee Mix" this is just a fun track, it's even got pop and hiss from a turn table to give it that vintage 45 vibe! This will get you... happy... everything else, is UP to you (wink).

ABOUT "BIG HORN BLUES"

It would be understandable to envision that it's a man, playing those sultry notes on the Big Horn, but it's a woman just over five feet tall! Big sounds, reverent nods to the great blues and jazz club eras of the past, brought into 2022 with a new artist, and a fresh energy for today.

Ava Lemert, is not only the woman behind the big, bluesy, brooding saxophone on "Big Horn Blues," but she is also the "one-woman" jazz trio behind the melody. Ava wrote, produced, recorded, mixed, and designed the artwork as well. Written and recorded in the span of two days, you can almost see a smoky, dark supper club from a bygone era when you listen.
