Crappy habits are truly a three-ring circus:

Ring #1: What you’re thinking while you’re in the habit. Your thinking creates what you’re feeling. 

Ring #2: What you’re feeling while you’re in the habit. What you’re feeling drives or fuels your actions or inactions related to the habit. 

Ring #3: What you’re actually doing or not doing. 

We must be willing to identify the uncomfortable emotions that are fueling our habitual actions. 

I invite you to consider these questions:

  • What emotion is most uncomfortable for you to feel?
  • How do you respond to uncomfortable emotions:
    • avoid it?
  • resist it?
  • numb it?
  •
