The Test of Truth ~ Chapter 14, section XI

5. You have one test, as sure as God, by which to recognize if what you learned is true. ²If you are wholly free of fear of any kind, and if all those who meet or even think of you share in your perfect peace, then you can be sure that you have learned God’s lesson, and not your own. ³Unless all this is true, there are dark lessons in your mind that hurt and hinder you, and everyone around you. ⁴The absence of perfect peace means but one thing: You think you do not will for God’s Son what his Father wills for him. ⁵Every dark lesson teaches this, in one form or another. ⁶And each bright lesson with which the Holy Spirit will replace the dark ones you do not accept, teaches you that you will with the Father and His Son.

6. Do not be concerned about how you can learn a lesson so completely different from everything that you have taught yourself. ²How would you know? ³Your part is very simple. ⁴You need only recognize that everything you learned you do not want. ⁵Ask to be taught, and do not use your experiences to confirm what you have learned. ⁶When your peace is threatened or disturbed in any way, say to yourself:

⁷I do not know what anything, including this, means. ⁸And so I do not know how to respond to it. ⁹And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.

¹⁰By this refusal to attempt to teach yourself what you do not know, the Guide Whom God has given you will speak to you. ¹¹He will take His rightful place in your awareness the instant you abandon it, and offer it to Him.

Jenny Maria shares some inspired sections from A Course in Miracles, specifically from the section "The Present Memory" (Text, Chapter 28, Section I). She explores a passage discussing judgment as a toy of the ego, which is from "Shadows of the Past" (Text, Chapter 17, Section III). It is seen how the Holy Spirit transforms special relationships into holy relationships, aligning with "The Two Uses of Time" (Text, Chapter 15, Section I).

1.⁠ ⁠"The Present Memory" (A Course in Miracles, Text, Chapter 28, Section I) – This section teaches that memory can be used by the Holy Spirit to release the past rather than to hold onto it. True healing occurs when past associations are willingly surrendered, allowing only the Present Love to remain.

2.⁠ ⁠"The Two Uses of Time" (A Course in Miracles, Text, Chapter 15, Section I) – The ego uses time to reinforce the past, whereas the Holy Spirit uses it to free us from false memories and lead us to the Present moment.

3.⁠ ⁠"Shadows of the Past" (A Course in Miracles, Text, Chapter 17, Section III) – Past grievances shape present perception. The ego clings to the past and distorts current relationships, while the Holy Spirit offers a way to see truly.

Through A Course in Miracles lesson 44, Jenny Maria guides us to recognize that we cannot make light ourselves, but that our true identity is divine light. The ego, in its fear, tries to convince us that letting go of our thoughts will be a complete loss of identity and descent into hell—when in truth, it is the release from hell.

I love how the teaching emphasizes that our resistance to this process is natural, yet it is only fear of losing a false self. The real Self, which is pure light, remains untouched and ever-present. The practice of quieting the mind and allowing ourselves to sink past interfering thoughts is described as a "natural course" by Jesus —a return to what has always been true.

Jenny Maria and Barret also dive into The Only Answer, T-6.IV. While the ego constantly questions and keeps us in uncertainty, the Holy Spirit simply answers—always and for all time. We don’t have to strive or seek endlessly; the Answer is already here. It is in the stillness, in the surrender, in the Beingness of Spirit that we Are.

This teaching is an invitation to rest in certainty, to move past the ego’s questions and rest in the Answer.
