The Story of Jesus is the climatic chapter in God’s Larger WAR Story.  After being anointed God’s chosen King at His Baptism and proving His Believing Loyalty to God through His Wilderness Temptations, Jesus then begins his public ministry of proclaiming the coming Kingdom, casting out demons and healing human disease as a means of softening the battlefield. But it’s through the Transfiguration which takes place on the demonic stronghold of Mt. Hermon that Jesus officially declares war on God’s Cosmic Enemies.  He then begins his final journey to Jerusalem to engage in what will be the decisive Cosmic Battle.  As he publicly rides into the City as Israel’s true Davidic King, he comes to do battle.  His disciples too are ready for battle, following him with swords.  Satan prepares for war by entering Judas.  The battle lines are drawn.  The ancient Serpent’s head is at last about to be crushed.  Victory is in the air.  But then the unthinkable happens—or does it?  In this session we will discover that when it comes to Jesus’ battle strategy, “V” stands for much more than Victory!

We continue in our series “What on Earth is God Doing?”    This month in Part 7  "Seeing Jesus through the Larger Lens" we find that too often we get locked into seeing Jesus from our own smaller perspective: “Jesus is my personal savior who died on the cross so I can go to heaven when I die.”  This reductionistic view of Jesus prevents us from seeing Him as he really is…as the Larger Story of God presents him and invites us to see him.  Seeing Jesus through the lens of God’s Larger Story not only will change our perspective of Him, but it will also  give us a larger, transcendent framework from which to see ourselves and understand our own smaller story.
