Welcome to the THIRD episode of our awesome africans series, talking with Thabo Mashegoane, AfICTA Vice-Chairman and President of IITPSA (https://www.iitpsa.org.za/)
We talk about what’s needed in Africa in terms of infrastructure and education. We look at skills development and the importance of #ethics, #values and #culture when building new solutions.
"We find ourselves in a scenario where our youth unemployment is very high, and there’s an introduction of the 4IR. This poses both a risk to further marginalise those who don’t have access to technology and jobs, or an opportunity to break the mould. ICT has a lot of potential to improve the plight of South Africans and, in my view, is equivalent to mining in the 19th century."
Catch my really heartfelt conversation with Nick Hunt-Davis, a Human-Cyborg Relations Specialist - whatever that means. We talk about his creative spirit, lifelong learning, that shirt he’s wearing, what it means for a white guy to feel like an African (yeah, I went there), and his perspectives on incremental innovation in Europe vs disruptive innovation in Africa. We also discuss being able to say no and stand up for what is right, as conscious participants in the tech industry, who are at the forefront of creating the future.
Mark Shawa was the first guest on our new series entitled, “Awesome Africans.”
Check out the first episode, it’s all about sharing great conversations with amazing and interesting people that are making conscious efforts to create better futures for themselves and the people around them, just by being their authentic selves and living their truths
