We take a look at the reasons why there are no human footprints on the surface of Mars.
How we took some giant leaps to the moon but then receded back to the safe environment of Low Earth Orbit.
But it's not just NASA making bold claims to go to Mars. The Russians and, of course, SpaceX have also had plans of their own to get to the Red Planet. Elon Musk wants life to be multiplanetary - starting with colonies on Mars.
