  • GPSTEC326: GPS: Industry 4.0: AI and the Future of Manufacturing
Advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, along with the rapid deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, are changing how physical products are designed and built. In this session, learn how AWS partners Siemens and Autodesk use AWS to enhance the design process and how they're incorporating AWS services into their products and smart factories. We explore how these trends impact the future of design and manufacturing.

  • HLC301: Simplifying Healthcare Data Management on AWS
Healthcare data is often large and complex enough to be complete, or simple enough to be usable: choose one. In this session, you will learn how Cerner tackled this problem for healthcare and other complex data sets on AWS. Cerner started with patterns to quickly evolve an infrastructure based on AWS to meet new demands, move into data engineering techniques on Apache Spark to make otherwise unmanageable data sets simple and usable, and connect that through to popular front-end tools for analysts and data scientists like Jupyter. You will also learn how Cerner is helping healthcare informaticians focus more on their analysis and less on undifferentiated heavy data lifting.

  • HLC302: Adopting Microservices in Healthcare: Building a Compliant DevOps Pipeline on Amazon ECS
Healthcare organizations are rapidly adopting container technology to drive innovation.  In this session, join Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and ClearDATA to learn about how to integrate Amazon ECS into your deployment pipeline while maintaining compliance for healthcare workloads, how to harden container environments for sensitive workloads, and how to leverage AWS tooling and microservices to provide new views and analysis for data stored in on-premises data centers.

  • HLC305: How Verge Health Leverages Automation to Provide a Mission-Critical, 24x7x365 Health Solution on AWS
Learn how to effectively use AWS automation for healthcare compliance. In this session, Verge Health (SaaS provider for practitioner management, organizational compliance, and patient and employee safety) discusses how they moved their risk management platform, supporting over 13,000 hospitals, to AWS. Because Verge Health, as a partner to healthcare organizations, is subject to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), it worked with AWS Partner Network (APN) Advanced Partner Cloudticity to significantly increase their security, availability, performance, HIPAA compliance, and agility, while simultaneously reducing cost through fully automated DevSecOps on AWS. The session focuses on resilient architecture for HIPAA compliance, automated migration techniques for data and VPN connections, and the automation of daily tasks, such as deployments and patching.

  • HLC307: Building a Secure and Healthcare-Compliant Platform for Adopting a Cloud-First Strategy Using AWS
This session provides an overview of how Change Healthcare invested in people, process, and an automation platform to adopt a cloud-first strategy. Starting from building a Cloud Center of Excellence team, they identified the compliance, security, and cost optimization requirements and process required to build a framework. They also embedded healthcare compliance, security, architecture best practices, and customer-specific rules and standards for a managed adoption of the cloud. Change Healthcare is leveraging their Cloud 2.0 framework to rapidly deploy their mission applications into AWS. Come learn how Change Healthcare built a serverless architecture using Amazon ECS, AWS Lambda, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodeCommit, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Service Catalog, AWS OpsWorks, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and other managed services.

  • HLC308: Healthcare Payers and Serverless Batch Processing Engines
In this session, hear how Cambia Health Solutions, a not-for-profit total health solutions company, created a self-service data model to convert a large-scale, on-premises batch processing model to a cloud-based, real-time pub-sub and RESTful API model.  Learn how Cambia leveraged AWS services like Amazon Aurora, AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS), AWS Lambda, and AWS messaging services to create an architecture that provides a reasonable runway for legacy customers to convert from old mode to new mode and, at the same time, offer a fast track for onboarding new customers.

  • HLC310: How Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's Focus on Standardizing Compliant Ops Led to Breakthrough Apps
The innovation team at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH), an integrated health care delivery system, saw AWS as an enabler to faster ideation on breakthrough patient care products over their existing internal private cloud options. In this session, you learn how they eliminated HIPAA compliance as a barrier to their speed-to-market goals by standardizing internal DevOps and DevSecOps duties across applications, as well as taking advantage of the containerization of enterprise technology. MLH partnered with Datica, an APN Healthcare Competency Partner, to address vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, disaster recovery, backups, encryption, audit logging, and deployment orchestration. You hear how, with this partnership, they ensure that the configuration and orchestration of all AWS HIPAA Eligible Services meet the controls set by healthcare's most stringent accreditation body, HITRUST, with every workload deployment. You also learn how MLH's adoption of a standard compliance layer led to quickly achieving stronger data integration with electronic health records.

  • IOT201: The IoT Offering Explained in Plain English
This session can help you better understand how to leverage different AWS services to build an IoT application. Learn the value of each AWS service in the Internet of Things (IoT) category, as we go through different use cases that demonstrate how the services are better together. NASA/JPL illustrate those concepts by discussing the inner workings of a demonstration they've built. They also talk about how they use IoT to overcome their technical challenges.

  • IOT206: Philips HSDP - A Cloud-Based IoT Platform Purposefully Built for Healthcare
In this session, we present the Philips HealthSuite Digital platform (HSDP), which was purposefully built to address the complex challenges of healthcare. HSDP features deep clinical databases, patient privacy, industry standards and protocols, and personal and population data visualizations. You will learn how AWS Professional Services and Philips partnered to build a new core IoT platform for device management, data storage, and data integration leveraging AWS technologies. HSDP is built using AWS IoT and a serverless, microservices-based architecture based on AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway.

  • IOT207: Panasonic - Building the Road of the Future on AWS
Panasonic and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) launched a partnership to build a connected transportation program in which real-time data would be shared across vehicles, infrastructure, and people to improve safety and mobility on the road – the V2X Deployment Program. To prove its capabilities initially, Panasonic built a fully functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in less than six months, using services such as AWS  IoT, AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, Amazon ECS, Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and more. See how customers will  synthesize data from various edge devices (roadside units) on the highways and send it to AWS IoT and analytics services for processing and intelligible actions. We discuss AWS IOT capabilities, design patterns, customer architecture, challenges faced, and lessons learned. Learn best practices and common issues to address to succeed with similar smart city projects.
