  • NET302: DNS Demystified: Global Traffic Management with Amazon Route 53
In this mid-level architecture session, we cover everything you need to get started with Amazon Route 53, AWS's highly available DNS service. Learn how to use public DNS, including routing techniques such as weighted round-robin, latency-based routing, and geo DNS. Learn also how to configure DNS failover using health checks, how and when to use private DNS within your VPC, and how Amazon Route 53 interacts with Amazon EC2's DNS for instance naming and DNS resolution across your network. We also walk through how to use Traffic Flow to manager traffic to your applications' globally distributed endpoints to optimize for constraints such as endpoint load, the health of your resources, geographic restrictions, and internet latency.

  • NET303: A Day in the Life of a Cloud Network Engineer at Netflix
Netflix is big and dynamic. At Netflix, IP addresses mean nothing in the cloud. This is a big challenge with Amazon VPC Flow Logs. VPC Flow Log entries only present network-level information (L3 and L4), which is virtually meaningless. Our goal is to map each IP address back to an application, at scale, to derive true network-level insight within Amazon VPC. In this session, the Cloud Network Engineering team discusses the temporal nature of IP address utilization in AWS and the problem with looking at OSI Layer 3 and Layer 4 information in the cloud.

  • NET304: Deep Dive into the New Network Load Balancer
In this session, we explore the new Network Load Balancer that was launched as part of the Elastic Load Balancing service, which can load balance any kind of TCP traffic. This offers customers a high-performance, scalable, low-cost load balancer that can handle millions of requests per second with very low latencies, while maintaining high levels of performance. Come and learn more about this new Network Load Balancer.

  • NET305: Advanced VPC Design and New Capabilities for Amazon VPC
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) enables you to have complete control over your AWS virtual networking environment. Given this control, have you ever wondered how new Amazon VPC features will affect the way you design your AWS networking infrastructure, or even change existing architectures that you use today? In this session, we explore the new design and capabilities and how you might use them.

  • NET310: NEW LAUNCH! AWS PrivateLink Deep Dive
PrivateLink provides private connectivity between VPCs, AWS Services and on-premises applications. Built with the same underlying technology that powers NAT Gateway, Network Load Balancer and AWS Service endpoints, PrivateLink is now available for use with your own applications. In the session, we'll do a deep dive into the underlying network technology that is used by PrivateLink and explore how PrivateLink can be deployed to improve your network topologies and application architectures. We'll also look at how PrivateLink improves micro-service architectures, allowing for services to be vended between AWS accounts and over DirectConnect connections.

  • NET401: Network Performance: Making Every Packet Count
Many applications are network I/O bound, including common database-based applications and service-based architectures. But operating systems and applications are often not tuned to deliver high performance. This session uncovers hidden issues that lead to low network performance, and shows you how to overcome them to obtain the best network performance possible.

  • NET402: Elastic Load Balancing Deep Dive and Best Practices
Elastic Load Balancing automatically distributes incoming application traffic across multiple Amazon EC2 instances for fault tolerance and load distribution. In this session, we go into detail about Elastic Load Balancing configuration and day-to-day management, and also its use with Auto Scaling. We explain how to make decisions about the service and share best practices and useful tips for success.

  • NET403: Deep Dive: AWS Direct Connect and VPNs
As enterprises move to the cloud, robust connectivity is often an early consideration. AWS Direct Connect provides a more consistent network experience for accessing your AWS resources, typically with greater bandwidth and reduced network costs. This session dives deep into the features of AWS Direct Connect and VPNs. We discuss deployment architectures and the process from start to finish. We show you how to configure public and private virtual interfaces, configure routers, use VPN backup, and provide secure communication between sites by using the AWS VPN CloudHub.

  • NET404: Networking Many VPCs: Transit and Shared Architectures
This session focuses on best practices for connectivity between many virtual private clouds (VPCs), including the Transit VPC. We review how the Transit VPC works and use cases for centralization, network security, and connectivity. We include best practices for multiple accounts, multiple regions, and designing for scale. In addition, we also review some of the variants and extensions to the Transit VPC, including how to customize your own.

  • NET405: Another Day, Another Billion Flows
In this session, we walk through the Amazon VPC network and describe the problems we were solving when we created it, and the features we've been adding as we scale it. We cover how these problems and features are traditionally solved, and why those solutions are not scalable, inexpensive, or secure enough for AWS. Finally, we provide an overview of the solution that we've implemented. We discuss some of the unique mechanisms that we use to ensure customer isolation, get packets into and out of the network, and support new features such as NAT and VPC endpoints.
