Birdman chats with Emil Palensar, DPT, the Physical Therapist with the Haven of Lakeside about physical therapy in a skilled nursing facility, difference between outpatient therapy and skilled nursing facilities, fall prevention, the role therapists play in your health, and the functions of a physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech language pathologist.

  Who is Emil Palensar?   Emil was born and raised in the White Mountains, and is a St. Johns native. After he graduated from St. Johns High School, Emil enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served for three years. From then he attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate degree in kinesiology, and then moved to St. Augustine, Florida where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at St. Augustine University for Health Sciences.   As a Physical Therapist, Emil has worked in both the outpatient, and impatient settings. He worked with White Mountain Outpatient Therapy for four years, until he transferred to the impatient setting. There, Emil found his niche, skilled nursing facilities, where he has continued practicing for over seven years.
