From the time Cody Lynn Macy could walk and talk, she has been entertaining audiences. She is an Arizona native and despite all of the traveling she has done in her life, she knows it is where her roots will always lie. Cody recorded her first album in Texas at the age of 9 and her second in Nashville at 12. She graduated high school at age 14 and had her AAS in Music Business by 2006. Throughout her life, Cody has spent a lot of time on the road fronting her own bands and performing as much as she could. She has performed multiple times at Country Thunder, both in Arizona and Wisconsin, and has opened for the likes of Charlie Daniels, Martina McBride, and Neal McCoy. She also records and performs with popular KLME radio hosts Tim and Willy and their All Earl Band. Even with her past accomplishments, Desert Dixie has given Cody Lynn a new and exciting way to flex her creative muscles and an outlet to really show her musical chops.

A proud Arizona native, J.T. was raised in a family where get-togethers often began and ended with everyone singing around a piano or guitar. It wasn’t until age 16 that he really pursued a musical path though. At the age of 19, J.T. packed his bags and took off for Nashville to learn about the craft of songwriting. Soon he was playing songwriter nights and showcases with some of the musicians he grew up admiring. J.T. learned not only how to write better songs and how to be a better player, but also how to truly entertain an audience while in Nashville. After the short time in Music City, J.T. stayed busy during college playing around Arizona as a solo act as well as with bands. Then, of course, he connected with Cody Lynn and eventually pursued Desert Dixie full force. J.T. was a finalist in the Young Guns contest held at Arizona's Country Thunder in 2004 and is a regular featured artist on the internet radio station www.toginet.com.

Hailing from the American southwest, American Longspurs deliver their brand of country rock from the sweltering streets of Phoenix, Arizona. Formed by childhood friends and lifelong musical partners Zachary Zimmerman and Drew Switzer, American Longspurs evoke the sounds of yesterday's outlaw country legends Waylon Jennings and Johnny Paycheck while drawing comparisons to today's Americana superstars such as Drive-By Truckers and Ryan Bingham. With Chester Carmer, Nick Pawlowski and John Churchill rounding out the band in 2014 the Longspurs hit the stage hard including an appearance at the Country Thunder music festival alongside Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, The Band Perry, Easton Corbin and more. The year was highlighted, however, by the release of their sophomore EP Palo Santo. "While many artists seem to pay lip service to respecting classic country music, that’s not always evident in their sound. Fortunately, that’s not the case with American Longspurs. Frequently plain-spoken, sometimes poetic, Palo Santo provides a soundtrack for wanderers" (Carolyn Dixon, Goodnight Hestia). Proving there is indeed no rest for the wicked, American Longspurs kicked off 2015 with the release of their latest single Whiskey Feelin' which is available now on all major online music stores and streaming applications. The boys are currently hard at work writing and recording new material for a follow-up release expected out late 2015.

I fell in love with the immense beast of sky, the mountains that prop it up and much to my surprise, the stark desert that scratches it with spiny fingers. I spend my days rambling around this beguiling, bewitching landscape—hiking, camping, exploring, eating, and hiking a little more. Then I write about it all.

Winds are expected to be 10-15 mph and temperatures will be higher today. The fire is 30% contained and we remain under pre-evacuation orders only at this time. Next update at 12:30pm

Cedar Fire Update

June 17, 2016

Location: South of Show Low, East of Highway 60 on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation
Start date: Wednesday, June 15, 2016
Size: Approximately 9,652 acres

Cause: Unknown/Under Investigation
Resources Assigned: Approximately 600 personnel

The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the White Mountain Apache Tribe brought in John Pierson's Type 1 Incident Management Team to assume command of the Cedar Fire at 6:00pm on Thursday, June 16. The public can continue to get information on the Cedar Fire by calling the 311 Northeastern Arizona Public Information System at 928-333- 3412. Official incident information will be posted online at the Cedar Fire InciWeb page (http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4788) and the Cedar Fire Information Facebook page (www.facebook.com/cedarfireinfo).

Fire crews made good progress yesterday and continued to work throughout the night. Crews successfully conducted burnout operations along the B41 road to establish an eastern containment line. Crews also strengthened western containment lines along Highway 60 and northern containment lines ¼ mile from the B65 road. An infrared flight mapped the current fire size at 9,652 acres, approximately 8.3 miles south of Pinetop-Lakeside and 11.4 miles south of Show Low. The fire is moving in a northeast direction, influenced by wind, topography and fuels. Much of the current operational success is due to the hard work and efforts of the initial attack resources and their foresight in ordering the Type 3 Team until the Type 1 Team could assume command.

US Highway 60 is closed eastbound and westbound from mile post 318 at State Route 73 to mile post 337 at Show Low. Evacuation orders remain in place for the community of Forestdale. Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside and the immediate surrounding areas are under pre-evacuation notice. Today’s weather forecast calls for warmer temperatures with lighter winds. Fire managers are expecting the weather to get hotter and drier with decreasing winds over the next several days. Smoke will continue to move northeast and will likely impact the areas around Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, and Snowflake-Taylor.

6/16/16 5:00 pm – Members of various response agencies gave a briefing at tonight’s press conference. The Type 1 incident management team took over command of the fire today and will continue the hard work and efforts of the responders already on scene.

The winds today did not negatively impact the fire as previously anticipated which allowed for crews to hold lines. Air assets will continue to aid in battling this fire until 1900. Law enforcement agencies from all over Navajo, Apache and Coconino County as well the state have responded to this incident to aid with protection of our communities, securing roads and thoroughfares and being ready to conduct evacuation operations if necessary. Winds are not predicted to be as severe tomorrow, this however could increase smoke impacts in the area.
