Rachel Conrad wants you to be remembered. Through her portrait photography, Rachel stages her photo shoots to tell the stories and to capture the personalities and passions, relationships, and contexts--particularly of multi-generations of women. "You never know what tomorrow brings" is the mantra that motivates her work to save the memories. She offers inspiration in her own story, her decision to name herself a full-time artist, and her compulsion to create.

Artist and teacher Sandy Camomile, transplanted long ago from Utah, retired from teaching digital art classes at Lasalle University, professed computer "nerd," calms herself when watching the news by capturing their ugliness in drawings as "swamp monsters," then creating them in 3D, then photographing the sculptures, and finally transforming them into digital photographs to express her disgust at current affairs. This multi-talented artist doesn't sit still for long. And her work--whimsical, yet deadly serious--provides a catharsis for her and an education for the rest of us!

Once upon a time Jane deGruchy took the only art class offered: a class in watercolor. Joann Moy's work expresses the innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life, a hypothesis known as biophilia, introduced by Edward O. Wilson. Seeking to find this connection, this commonality among humanity--then and now--she paints her abstract figures in all colors and poses. Not content with one "signature style," she offers landscapes that capture the radiance of sunsets in bright colors and the light and shadows that fall on fields and meadows.

Carrie Kingsbury's career as a fine artist started early. Immersed in a family of artists, following an artistic journey was no surprise. Primarily a figural artist, Carrie seeks to capture the spirit of her subjects in her murals and personal work. Employed all over the world as a mural artist--inside restaurants or schools or outside throughout a community--alone or as part of a team of students, she enjoys mentoring emerging artists, teaching them as many of the basics in drawing and painting as she can.

Jolie Chylack's artistic life began almost randomly. A biology major, Jolie took a course in art to satisfy a curiosity. This minor spark ignited what has become her mission: utilizing art to educate and inform her audiences--students in her classes or adults drawn to the beauty in her artwork--about issues in the natural world that need care and attention. She sees positive change and feels hopeful, inspired to show us what's happening around the world in nature.
