Back 2 Bass Kicks

Welcome to this special season of the Back2BassKicks podcast. On the 15th and 16th August 2020 we were fortunate enough to be part of a collaboration with Xtreme London putting on a live stream event Xtreme: The Hard Style reunion broadcast live from Escape Venue Northampton.

Sadly, David Laporta of Xtreme passed away soon after this event.

We have set up a just giving page to show our appreciation to David’s family, you can donate at:- justgiving.com/crowdfunding/david-laporta

This season contains all the recordings from that event and we are proud to be releasing them in tandem the remastered video recordings.

Please take the time to check these out on YouTube.com/XtremeTV

All links will be available on our website Www.Back2BassKicks.com

David was a born promoter, a connector of people, and a man of ambition, ambition which was infectious and rubbed off an all that he worked with.

Thank you David for all of your hard work for the scene, we will forever be grateful to you for including us in your vision, and of course for the opportunity to work with you on what was  your final event as a promoter.

Your impact on the music scene was a profound one, always supporting new talent, pushing new ideas, and inspiring all those around you to push in the same direction, together.

So please join us on this musical journey both on the podcast and of course the accompanying YouTube videos.

Rest in Peace David

The Back 2 Bass Kicks podcast is back after a short hiatus, with an epic trance filled adventure for Episode 7.

For those of you wondering why the delay in getting EP07 out there; B2BK have been deep in a number of exciting collaborative live streaming projects at Escape Venue raising money for #SaveOurVenues with brands like Xtreme London, Rave Anywhere, and Stamina Records. To find out more about this project check our blog post HERE

So what do we have for you in episode 7? We have a blinder that's what! We present to you the trancier side of 4 to the floor music kicking off with a very contemporary trance set featuring brand new music from Key 4050, Armin van Buuren, and friend of the show and Outburst Records rising star, Systembreaker.

We follow this with an exceptional guestmix from the South-West Hard Trance badboy Shax! His set is set jam packed with his own productions, honouring the past and heralding the way to the future. In his interview you can find out about the South-West scene's origins, the pioneers, who is pushing hard trance in the modern era, and his new brand Persistent Sounds. He also talks passionately about his agency Mix Artist Management. We also get to hear his room 101 and 909 selections. His room 101 selection so terrible, we were not even sure whether to include it in the final cut of the podcast!

Ending the podcast we have something very special for you... a 25 minute teaser of a set recorded live at Escape Venue, in full 4K, with ourselves DJing back to back and in full control of the lighting. In the set we represent the classic sounds of Freeform, with a couple of deviations to the modern era, with tracks by Kevin Energy, Dougal and Gammer, CLSM, Douglas, and many more.

We have made it halfway through Season One, we have hit Episode six! What a year 2020 has been, musically we have become more connected, but the Coronavirus situation leaves a deeply concerning and uncertain future for people whose sole source of income is from the music industry. Thankfully in the UK there is a rescue package incoming for the arts, hopefully this will keep our favourite venues open, and allow continuity for the industry until which time promoters, venues, and party people can come together in perfect harmony.

This is the second episode since we changed the format of the podcast, introducing an alternating monthly trancier episode and a harder episode. You know what that means…. It is time to get HARD!!!

Our harder episode is set to satisfy those that like it harder, faster, and those kicks crunchier. We have for you a killer array representing the very best tracks across Hardstyle, UK Hardcore, Happy Hardcore, & European Hardcore. Not only that we catch up for a good old chin wag with the North-West and 24/7 Hardcore badman Fitzy K who supplies us with a fast paced and energetic UK Hardcore / Makina set, which in his own words is “fast, hard, dirty, and cheesey”. He gives us a history lesson in the origins of Makina, and what makes the North West rave scene so unique.

We also invite Fitzy-K to select a track for both room 101 and 909, a blues track and a track by Hixxy, but which room matches what song? Listen to find out.

We also give a shout out to some of the notable lives streams that have been happening, including the “Xtreme – The Hardstyle Reunion” live stream event which B2BK are supporting on the 12th Jul 2020, and a actual real event scheduled in for the 4th December 2020, which is of course Adrenaline Stompers where you can catch both IDK and Ectomorph playing the very best in hard music. Cannot wait for that one!

So, after all that it's time to get listening to episode 6 of the Back 2 Bass Kicks podcast!

Enjoy!

Episode 5 is the first podcast using our new format. We have listened to feedback, and incorporated it to give you a better listening experience. The Podcast is reduced in length to encourage more single playthroughs, whilst being able to really give each genre we cover the attention it deserves.

We will be alternating our monthly releases between a Trancier episode and a Harder episode. This Episode 5 is representing those Trancier sounds and with the Trance Mix, the Hard Dance Mix and a cutting-edge Freeform mix by none other than our guests of honour, Digital Commandos.

In addition to their guestmix we catch up with David Henry from Digital Commandos in our interview section and give him the honour of choosing his Room 101 and Room 909 selections. Slight spoiler alert, he puts an entire genre in room 101, and a beautifully crafted 90s Dutch Happy Hardcore track into our hall of fame in the room 909 section. Listen to the end to find out what he selected, they are corkers!

With all that said, it is time to listen, raise those hands, and discover exciting new music. We hope you enjoy the new format!
