When Martin Scorsese first read the 1985 nonfiction book Wiseguy, he immediately called author Nicholas Pileggi and told him “I’ve been waiting for this book my entire life.” To which Pileggi replied, “I’ve been waiting for this phone call my entire life.” And that is how 1990’s “GoodFellas” came to be.
