A Simple Brain-and-Train Explanation
Have you ever noticed that when you’re being adjusted—or when you’re watching someone else get adjusted—their leg length changes really fast?
And maybe you’ve wondered…
👉 “Is my leg actually shorter?”
👉 “What are they really checking?”
Great questions. Let me share a little neurology, and I promise—we’ll keep it simple and fun.
🧠 Let’s Talk About the Brain (Using a Train 🚆)
When your spine is misaligned (subluxated), your body doesn’t stay quiet about it. In fact, four key structures immediately start sending warning signals up to your brain:
All of these signals hop on a “train” and head straight to the brain.
🎯 First Stop: The Cerebellum
That train pulls into the cerebellum, the lower part of your brain responsible for:
The cerebellum says, “Hey—something isn’t right in the spine!” Whether it’s your neck, mid-back, or low back, the message is loud and clear.
🚦 Next Stop: The Thalamus → Cortex
From there, the signal moves to the thalamus, which acts like a relay station, and then up to the cortex—the thinking, decision-making part of the brain.
Your cortex knows what should be happening:
But when that’s not happening, the brain decides it needs to compensate.
⬇️ The Train Heads Back Down the Spine
Now the train heads back down the spinal cord, telling the body to:
This is where things get interesting…
Those postural changes often show up as uneven leg length.
👉 Not because one bone is shorter
👉 But because muscles and posture are being neurologically altered
That’s why when we check leg length, it gives us real-time feedback about what your nervous system is doing and where your body needs help.
👐 What the Adjustment Does
When we deliver a chiropractic adjustment, something powerful happens:
✅ The abnormal signal to the brain is turned off
✅ The destructive loop of muscle tightening is interrupted
✅ The nervous system can reset and recalibrate
That’s why leg lengths often balance out immediately after an adjustment—it’s a neurological change, not a bone change.
🧩 Why We Use Multiple Assessments
In our office, leg length checks are just one piece of the puzzle. We also use:
Together, these tools allow us to be corrective-based, not just reactive—helping your body function better, not just feel better
💆♀️ Why Massage & Exercises Matter Too
When muscles tighten unevenly, it creates asymmetry. That’s why:
…all work best together.
Mobility, stability, and movement keep your nervous system firing on all cylinders.
❤️ Final Thought
Your body is incredibly intelligent—it’s always adapting and compensating. Our job is to help remove interference
🎥 A Conversation with My Dad

We talk about:
👴 Grandpa’s journey from pain to walking again
💪 The importance of health and not giving up hope
👨👩👧👦 What it’s like being a parent… and now a grandparent
✨ The legacy of faith, health, and family
It’s more than just a chiropractic story—it’s about the power of persistence, the value of health, and the joy of family across generations.

We came for a cow… and left with a pig too. 🐄🐖
What started as a trip to the 4H livestock auction turned into a freezer-filling, life-lesson kind of day.
In this video, Dr. Mosier shares a hilarious (and slightly humbling) story about supporting local 4H kids, underestimating how much meat two farm animals really provide… and the surprise need for another deep freezer.
But it’s not just about cows, pigs, and packed SUVs. It’s also about the power of good gossip—how a kind word said about someone can get back to them and lift them up in ways you wouldn’t believe.

Great Wolf Lodge and the Case of the Cranky Wizard 🧙♂️🪄
What do a temper tantrum, “Text Neck,” and an ice bath have in common? A surprising amount, actually.

"Mommy! Mommy! Ethan said my name!"
Isaac was blown away that his little brother actually said his name. For months now, Ethan would call both of his older brothers, Isaiah. Ethan adores his big brothers and because of that, there are two words he can say the clearest; "Isaiah" and the word "no." The word "no" is usually directed toward Ellen and I, which is often accompanied with aggressive hand-waving and head-shaking. For example, "Ethan, eat your food"="NO!" or "Ethan, don't climb on the table"= "NO!" or "Ethan, it's time for a nap"= "NO!"
Now, Ethan has a new favorite word, "Isaac." Isaac smiles every time he hears his name. Our own name is the most important sound in the human language. It is directly linked to our identity and who we are. For example, what's the question you ask when a pregnant woman reveals the gender of her unborn child? "What is your baby's name?" You had a name before you were even born.
In our fast-paced, high-stress, and over-stimulated society we often struggle remembering people's names. This is not due to a lack of care but potentially due to a lack of presence in the moment of introduction. Our minds wander off more often than we would like, even during important events in our lives. My encouragement is to remember and use people's names and watch the joy rise in that person. You had a name and you were loved before you were even born.

Evan Marshall Mosier is finally here. He is alive and well!
However, a few months ago, we didn't think that was the case. While camping on Memorial Day weekend, Ellen thought she was undergoing a miscarriage because of an abnormal amount of blood she was experiencing. We have never been through anything like that before and it was beginning to break our hearts. Despite the abnormal amount of blood, Ellen continued to feel morning sickness as if her pregnancy was still occurring. Her hormones hadn't returned back to "normal", non-pregnant, levels. This was a constant reminder of what she had lost. We made contact with the doctor's office about our sudden loss and with a call back, they asked for her to come into the office to have an ultrasound with a possible D&C. As we arrived to the doctor's office and entered the waiting room, there was a weird feeling as we were surrounded by happy, pregnant couples. Another reminder of our loss.
Sometimes in our darkest moments, God shows up and shows off. Our ultrasound tech was unaware of our situation. All of a sudden, the tech casually says, "There's your baby with a heart rate of 154 BPM" as she's staring as the ultrasound monitor. Let's just say we were shocked.
Fast forward to today, Evan is well-loved and wants constant cuddles from his big brothers who, of course, fight each other for the opportunity. We had 2 fears going into this 4th child of ours. First being a lack of time or presence from Ellen and I for each boy. We don't want them to grow up fighting for their individual attention with us. The second fear was, do I have enough love in the tank for a 4th boy? The other 3 have it all! However, what I quickly discovered while holding Evan for the first time, is that love is a limitless resource.

We need a Revolution, not a Resolution!
I try not to use profanity in these emails, but we need to talk about a serious topic. The topic is... exercise. I'm sorry for my language. If you're like me, you get an allergic reaction when words of this nature come up. I generally get red in the face, sweat profusely, and even hyperventilate thus an allergic reaction.
However, many people at this time of year are ready for a fresh start. All of us have our reasons: unsatisfied with how we look, health concerns, lack of energy, and so on. Regardless of the reason, together we need to make this year the year we stay consistent and stick to our goals. We need a revolution rather than another New Year's resolution.
In order to make any serious change, we need to start small and simple. What is the best way to eat an elephant...one bite at a time. The KISS (keep it simple silly) principle will take us much further than we think is possible.
Here is my simple suggestion. Push-ups and squats. No weights or gym memberships are needed. Push-ups and squats cover the majority of the muscle groups and your body provides the resistance needed to challenge yourself for strength and endurance.
Here is your exercise prescription (21 days).
Day 1: 1 push-up and 1 squat.
Day 2: 2 push-ups and 2 squats.
Day 3: 3 push-ups and 3 squats...
.
.
.
Day 21: 21 push-ups and 21 squats.
I hope you find this encouraging and something that is easily attainable! If you have questions, let us know through email, phone, or text!

Do you only talk about Yourself?
"I got a fire truck for Christmas." -Boy
"I baked a mountain of cookies." -Girl
"My dog peed on our Christmas tree." -Boy
"I don't like green bean casserole." -Girl
Have you ever listened to little kids communicate with each other? Often it seems like 2 conversations are happening at the same time. Each kid is eager to have someone listen to them and their story. Usually, this results in them not listening to the other person but waiting for their chance to speak again.
How often do we, as adults, do this? We are stressed and busy, trying to be polite but not actually listening. "I've got bigger problems than to listen to your problems."
When we are so focused on ourselves and our problems, we give partial attention to our friends and family. We then become known for our absences. You're known for not being fully present or even worse, you become known for only talking about yourself. For 2025, what do you want to be known for?
